Superb abstract, Emgy. I do not think that anyone would guess that is of old paint splatters. Abyss is an excellent title. To me, the 3-d effect you have captured does appear like an underwater cliff dropping off into the deep, dark unknown. The lighter tones on the right gradually changing to dark on the left really works wonders in this shot.

Ecco perchè mi era sfuggita, ero a Bologna... Che bello che sei tornata a postare, con un'immagine da sogno, potrebbe essere il profondo degli oceani o il profondo del cielo, in ogni caso mi dà l'idea di qualcosa di misterioso e di magico, bellissime le sfumature di blu e azzurro.

Hi Emgy, there are two things that come to mind immediately when I first saw this photo. The first and foremost important aspect being the textures, the second the gradient and the tone. Both fit eachother like a glove, but I think it's the texture that makes this shot. Another tone could also work, despite that it would present another mood. A combination of tones, like Tim Bronkhorst did in one of his portrait series (see second comment for the URL) would be interesting (or would at least show what a different tone would do to the perception of this photo, i tried it with a greenish red version)
Needless to say, what I discussed above has nothing to do with the quality of this photo, and the choices you've made... ) The high level of saturation as well as the division of the frame with the different blotches of paint / plaster is very well balanced. Reminds me of an artist impression of a deep sea scene. Very creative shot, and well captured.

I like your version in green and red. I have lots of macro shots of my ladder with several "fantasy scape". Some of them resemble places diffent than marine scenes and I gave them "earth" colours like you did in your version.I may post one of them in the near future.

Could be an underwater scene. Same thing as the other ladder shot: that harsh light on the right should be dealt with. I'm guessing just better lighting conditions could eliminate the glare. Hmmm... might try a polarizer if that's possible--might help also.
