Great excercise in DOF, Mary Sue! The way the unopened flowers are coming right at you gives a wonderful 3-D effect! It's kind of a shame that you can't see the tips of the three longest flowers, but at least they lead off the frame in a nice, regular pattern! :) Great to see a post from you again - it's been a while!

Mesmerising!

Thanks for the comments about this image. Dirck, this is a recycled image that I temporarily re-posted because someone pointed out a much better image by Ronnie Gaubert that explored the same subject. Here is his image: http://www.usefilm.com/image/234766.html
He did a much better job of using light in the center of the bud.

I am a little guilty of posting an older image in lieu of shooting something new, lol. I need to get busy with the camera again. Too much time has passed!!

This is a great macro!
Fine details and color.

The way it's formed, it seems to want to reach out in that sort of gesture; and perhaps to be touched. I like the soft, out of focus areas just as much as the sharp areas. They complement each other. It's almost hypnotic.
