Must have been a very interesting and sobering trip, Lori!!
Nice shot of this derelict building.
The curved line of stone really helps the overall composition.
Kind regards, Chris

A very well composed and exactly aligned architectural travel image with great lines and impressive colors.
Very nice framing (suitable colors!!!) of this beautiful travel image.
Kind regards,
Gustav

Hi Lori, Before I read your comment,I was about to comment that this end of the line is long past its term of service.... In colour, with the shrub in front and the lamp post, It looks almost a pleasant space to linger. The ruin of the building stands in shrill contrast, though. And that's what I like about this image.

The framing is rather wide, with the shadow on the right hand side being cropped off by the side of the image.(unfinished gradient). I like the framing itself, but making it this size reduces the size of the image. I'd like to see this one a bit bigger....

Cheers,

Hugo

(Finally found something to nitpick about....)

Are you there now?

First time I signed on your name had 'sunglasses/shades' on, I thought that meant you left? Actually I don't know what that means!

Hugo de Wolf   {K:184981} 7/25/2004
The sunglasses mean that I'm opp-ed (moderator) Gotta get some sleep, talk to you later, and I'll send you some shots with a more explanatory content...)

Cheers,

Hugo

Hi Lori... Great picture... It seems a lovely place... who would think it was one of the most secured prisons... Great composition... and a very nice and pleasant view...

Cheers,

Maria

I found this image as a professional composition, that goes along from the start to the end (fore and background).super shot. Saeed

Lori, what strikes me about this image is the irony. The high level security it used to be - with the inviting open seas leading the prisoners to freedom. How frustrating that must have been for them! Sort of mental punishment too?

It must have been quite an experience to visit that place.

Linn

Hi Linn,
YEs, so true! Many of them died trying to swim to land, but the cold water and sharks always got them!

The whole experience of seeing this prison and hearing the history and stories was unforgettable. I thought it would be boring, but actually it was extremely interesting!

Have a great day!
Lori :)

As always, Lori, Beautiful! Sometimes I got jealous that you can go to some interesting places, found 'uninteresting spot', and turn it into 'very interesting picture' like this one, imagine, who would go to a ruin? But you framed it nicely with the faraway land as background. Interesting! Good luck!
