Hi Carlheinz!
It's certainly getting easier and easier for me to recognize your images here at Usefilm's thumbnails. I appreciate very much your style and vision. And this, clearly, is one of the reasons why.
My best,
José Azevedo

Dude-- your photos are getting more and more ominous as you go. You could probably take a lovely meadow and use that camera to make it look like Satan's playpen.

Another unique and memorable image!

Bradley Prue   {K:30312} 7/27/2004
Very cool, Holga Donut man....

Marcin Gorski   {K:12385} 7/27/2004
grat mood

Hugo de Wolf   {K:185017} 7/27/2004
Hi Carlheinz, playing with light seepage in addition to vignetting now? Not much to add to john Sigler's comment, he phrases it rather aptly. No matter how good those donuts are, with this shot as theri advertisement, I would think twice before attempting a bite at this eerie place...

Cheers,

Hugo

Ann Texter   {K:10058} 7/27/2004
Hi Carlheinz,
Awesome! Big Holga Donut! :) love it!
Ann

Stephan Houde   {K:1157} 7/27/2004
Wonderful image again my friend..
I love the light leak..very well placed.
Of course, the vignetting goes well with the shape of the donut..
I like it !
Stef

Whew! great toy cam shot, bro. love the colors and the theme. you removed some reference in dimension by shooting the picture this way - for me, this looks like a toy story with toy cars and buildings and a gigantic donut. well done!

Thilo

Rik Chidester   {K:1263} 7/28/2004
Pure Bayer Excellence! No doubt, as who created this one! What'cha doing in L.A.? Is Seattle in your future? Get ahold of me, if so.... Regards, Rik

Ian Crean   {K:14863} 7/28/2004
This reminds me of a early 60s slow-mo sequence, I just see everything here in a dreamy motion, utter ordinariness but something dramatic is about to happen (like the Kennedy shooting).

Carlheinz Bayer   {K:14220} 7/28/2004
Hey Rik! Seattle? Never been there! Let me see! Yes, I told you that I need to buy you a drink one day!
Carlheinz
PS: your email is arrived. I will respond the next days.

Margot Haag   {K:1324} 7/29/2004

Bea Friedli   {K:9816} 7/30/2004
Hi Carlheinz ! love your Holga images..one of my favorite cameras ! you know how to work it with expertise ! great shot !

Russ Hewitt   {K:1831} 7/30/2004
Even the mundane seems surreal in your images. After all, despite the presence of an oversized donut on a building what is this really but a street scene in almost-anywhere-America? What you have done with your choice of camera, film, subject and composition is once again take a scene from the ordinary and transform it into something strange, ominous and in many ways astonishing. Your point of view with so much foreground and diagonal lines leading inevitably towards Randy's evoked in my mind a nightmare scenario complete with the disturbed mind of an insane person ready to dash out into the hallucinogenic street only to be trapped in the shadow of the street lamp and then mowed down by the blurry yet all too real traffic that lies in wait. Wierd? Damn straight but this is the kind of narrative your imagery evokes in my brain and that is why I look forward to every new image

All the best and keep up the stellar work

Russ

cesira urzi   {K:1768} 1/12/2005
what do you mean "lens piece of plastic?" Forgive me, but I'm still a beginner, don't know what Olga is!
Very cool shot by the way... makes me think of pulp fiction, I don't know why!

Carlheinz Bayer   {K:14220} 1/12/2005
Hey Cesira! The Holga is a $20, so called toy camera, Medium format, made of 99% of finest chinese plastic. The lens (I'm not even sure it deserves the right to claim that name) is a piece of plastic, guarantees distortion, vignetting, light fall-off; just to name a few of the imperfections. The body leaks light like crazy has one shutter speed of 1/100 or something like that, you have two apertures (well, you have two settings, but you may have to modify the camera, to have the second aperture as well). Sounds scary, right? But it can please you with wonderful and unique images. Check out the web and search for Holga & toy camera and you will find tons of information.

This looks familiar. Long Beach, maybe. It's like a world where there are only cars, and it looks comically hectic. This is so appropriate, because these American landmarks are disappearing quickly.

Freddie Sandström   {K:1974} 2/14/2005
Oh yes! This really gets me going! Brutal image! The rawness of the Holga combined with a monstrous american donut in a surreal landscape full of intense contrast. Brilliant!
