About okay, this time a different one. You see a cable car... not at lightspeed, but with a long shutter.

Just to give you a rough idea about the concept behind it: this is a night shot so the shadows etc. you see, is not from the sun but from the street lights. the blur is delibertely chosen and even enforced by PS. I think the shot is kind of surreal, near-Lomo style. a bit weird.

comments are highly appreciated ;-)

Very nice blurry image, captured it's movement perfectly, shame it was going a little slower, so you could make it it was a cable car. Good photo though, well done.

very original and well done work!
Greetings.

WOW this is a great capture... well done in BW as well..

Carlheinz Bayer   {K:14220} 7/29/2004
Works for me!!! Good that you've included the rail. Brings depth. Like it! C.

Hugo de Wolf   {K:184981} 7/29/2004
Warp speed! Motion and perspective, an excellent combination. A pitty about the fence in the foreground, it distracts a bit too much, I think....Without it, it's a winner.... See what I mean? (Easy PS work....I know it's not perfect, but It'll have to do...)

Cheers,

Hugo

Thilo,

I'm going to break with tradition and disagree with Hugo :)

I think the sign in the foreground is a Good Thing because it reinforces the contrast/drama between the static and the moving.

It could be a little sharper (the sign).

Apart from that, a super piece of work!

Hmmmmm.....getting kinda crazy, eh Thilo?? Your experimental side serves you well, my friend! This is totally cool and interesting. ..Brad

Uwe Bachmann   {K:10222} 7/30/2004
für mich gehört diese kleine barriere da vorne links auch irgendwie unbedingt mit dazu....ob warp- oder mopsgeschwindigkeit, es kommt gut, das cablecar....

vg, uwe

Dear Ollie,

thanks for your comments. in fact, my goal was not to show the cable car, but the lightspeed ;-)

Take care, Thilo

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 7/30/2004
Dear Hugo,

thanks for your critics and the taste of the a rework. I thought long about the sign, but decided against removing it. For me, the sign is necessary to get an additional layer of depth and to give the viewer an additonal geometry focus. I love that the cable car goes downward whereas the sigh is pointing upwards. So I go with Uwe & Angelo ;-)

Take care, Thilo

Hi Ursula,

danke für dein vertrauen. du hast mit uwe und angelo ja auch prominente "zaun"-fürsprecher bekommen. ich finde auch, dass das schild notwendig ist. ;-)

Beste Grüße, Thilo

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 7/30/2004
Dear Angelo,

thanks for your encouragement. As for the sharpness: actually I already multiplied the layer just for the sign... But honestly, I would leave the blur all over the image and not getting some different levels here. Thanks!

Thilo

Dear Bradley,

am I getting cracy? =) probably ;-)

I know this is a different one... but sometimes you have to leave the common path and see what's beyond the normal. this was just an experiment, and the discussion shows me that it was a good decision to upload the image. I swear that my next pictures will be the usual boring architecture shots or PS reworks ;-)

Hi Uwe,

San Francisco on speed. I like it. Now I need a drink.

Bit of fun! I love artifical Light, you can play with it so much. Would have liked to see a colour version to see how that effected the tree and cable car.

Personally I love the articifal light in my 'Lake Bled' photo, it too adds that surrealness.
