About Shot from the plane during a flight from Perth (Western Australia) to Kuala Lumpur (Malesya). This is a "straight fom the camera" shot. No PS, except for the frame. The simplicity of this image and the gorgeous gradient colours amaze me time and time again. Nature is always the "best painter".
Thanks for stopping by. - Emgy

sunset colors always amaze me ...wonderful photo.

Hugo de Wolf   {K:184981} 7/29/2004
Hi Emgy, This is probably the most simple composition I've ever seen. The faming in this one can even be considered the primary subject...) Not sure what to think of it, though. Love the tone, but I think the grain is too fierce for this purpose. I think a smoother transition between those tones would also increase the appeal. It's actually rather funny t notice that the more simple a composition, the more important these little details become. What are the darker blemishes in the top right quadrant near the middle? Certainly they aren't supposed to be there....) Interesting capture, impossible to assess. The breathaking sunset must've been pretty awesome "in real life".

Cheers,

Hugo

How amazing, such an array of colours, yes nature provides us with wonders. Somehing I will always remember is flying back from Canada watching the sun set, and within a minute seeing it rise again. Talk about being in the right place at the right time amaxing

Ben ritrovata!
Buona notte e a presto.

Emgy Massidda   {K:60169} 7/29/2004
Hi Hugo
Thanks. After some time away it's great to be here again and reat my friends comments. You are right about the grain and the spots. The first is due to the poor quality of my old camera that has less than 1 mil. pixels and doesn't make allow files larger than 640. The latter were caused by dirt on the plane window. Add all this to the poor shooting conditions such as the double glass of the window, the fact that it had to be a quick shot cause I wasn't sitting at the window and I didn't want the passenger next to me to keep off the way for too long, the fact that it was close to dark when I noticed those colours. I could have improved the photo in PS but I just didn't feel like this time. Everything considered I don't think it is too bad a pic. The frame?..... It was an experimental thing, just for a change. I'm not too fond of frames, as you probably have noticed.
Hugs and a big kiss to you baby
Emgy

Behind the golden western hills
The sun goes down, a founder'd bark,
Only a mighty sadness fills
The silence of the dark.

O twilight sad with wistful eyes,
Restore in ruth again to me
The shadow of the peace that lies
Beyond the purple sea.

The sun of my great joy goes down,
Against the paling heights afar,
Gleams out like some glad angel's crown,
A yellow evening star;

The glory from the western hills
Falls fading, spark on spark,
Only a mighty sadness fills
The spaces of the dark.

splendid plane shot and magnificent colour effect, very attractive and excellent imagination, superb captured, congrats, best regards

Rob Ernsting   {K:8946} 7/30/2004
Emgy, forget the grain deal by Hugo. All things are in relation to the capability of the camera. So there is grain, it adds more textural interest that way. I like the color spectrum and the symplicity of the photo is very creative. 7.

Groetjes, Rob.

Shiv Kumar Surya   {K:13192} 8/1/2004
What may be the grain and spots, I have seen such simple shot in a beautiful manner. As you say it is not PS work, no doubt it is a great painting of nature.

Cara Emgy, innanzitutto come stai?

Ciao bellissima!!!

Emgy Massidda   {K:60169} 8/1/2004
This shot was taken from a plane with a very simple camera that allows picture files up to a maximum of 640. Besides the pic. was slightly enlarged, that's the reason of the grain effect. The spots? Obviously some dirt on the doubble glass of the plane window between my camera and the subject. Both spots and grain are not very marked on my monitor and.... I could have made some corrections in PS but I decided to post the image untouched.
Thanks a lot for comment, Shiv

Nando Mondino   {K:13989} 8/1/2004

Dr. Rafael Springmann   {K:86479} 8/2/2004
Somehow, when you shoot even a "simple" shot like your "Downunder sunset", you manage to accoplish something no other photographer can.
Love,
Rafi

Anouschka Rokebrand   {K:6470} 8/2/2004
Wonderful!

Emgy Massidda   {K:60169} 8/2/2004
Hi Anouschka
Wat leuk je hier te zien. Geen nieuwe photo?
Voor me, helaas geen Australie dit jaar. Waar ga je naartoe? Welke staat?

Emgy Massidda   {K:60169} 8/3/2004
Dank je wel,Rene'
Nederlands is prima!!!!
Groetjes

Jan Symank   {K:15755} 8/3/2004

Alexey Sapa   {K:27168} 8/6/2004
Hi, dear Emgy! Hope, everything is Ok! Absolutely beautiful shot, fantastic colours! AMAZING at all! Great! Yes, You're absolutely right, Nature is always the "best painter". My best wishes! Alexey.

Marianne Gordon   {K:432} 8/10/2004
I agree with you on all points- the colors are amazing to me as well! This is a wonderful shot and I'm wondering if you need the framing at all? maybe even a small solid black border if anything. Either way, excellent capture! I believe what the last person referred to as blemishes- are actually clouds. Am I correct?

John McCallum   {K:1856} 8/11/2004
Lovely image, you've captured very well.

But you need to come even further 'downunder' - the sunsets may even be better )

ps. thank you for your comment, I enjoy all of your work. very creative Emgy, John.

Jimmy Payne   {K:21163} 8/13/2004
Even little cameras can capture nature's beauty in the hands of a skillful photographer. And, your little camera in your hands did just that in this photo.

Groet Teunis

Mary Brown   {K:68553} 4/11/2005
The colours are wonderful. I do love sunrises and sunsets and the endless display of colour variations they treat us to. This is a neat idea to simply isolate the colours with no landscape. It is very effective.

You are so right about Nature. She presents us with some marvwelous sights. This is neat shot from a plane. I love seeing this rainbow type effect just after sundown, but hav found it hard to capture well. Great shot.
Mary

Irenka Daniluk   {K:8011} 6/8/2005
