Tim, this is truly one of my fav. shots. I love the bright red coloring on the rocks. Your composition is excellent-love the view of the mountain-with the beautiful blue tones and the lush deep greens. Fabulous shot!

Incredible how you come up with one masterpiece after another. During what time span have you captured these photos? Its an awesome collection... Great tones in this one, but I wonder if cropping off a bit on the left side would balance this one a bit more. As the tree is cut off by the top of the photo, I think a closer compositon wouldn't hurt the composition.... A minor thing, though... )

Hi Hugo,
These photos were taken over a 3 day period in the Canadian Rockies last week. I was shooting close to 700 photos per day. I make a living by creating paintings using these photos. I didn't have much time and needed as much subject matter as possible. There was allot of coffee involved and lots of driving. Not to mention the helicopter ride and all the hiking to certain places I knew would be good. I used to do allot of mountain climbing here when I was younger so I knew just were to go to get the best possibilities in imagery. Thanks for all your comments Hugo and yes it could work with a cropping on the left. I tried it before posting the image and thought that I wanted the moody sky to envelope the tree a little more and so left it as it is now. I will try it again to feel it out. thanks.

hi again Hugo,
i should qualify that just the photos taken with the D70 were taken last week on my trip to the Canadian Rockies. The rest were taken over the last 3 years when i started with a digital nikon coolpix 900s and every one up the line as they came out till the D70 last week....that one is a keeper.

Hi Tim, Thanks for your replies... The D70 is a very good camera indeed... Quite similar to the D100 which I use. I'll have a better look at your website soon.

The landscape you have captured Tim is very similar to the southwest corner of the South Island of New Zealand. This could have been taken on the shores of Lake Te Anau. You certainly have an empathy with your land Tim. Regards John

yes we are hoping to visit New Zealand in the near future. I'm sure I will go nuts and never sleep from all the interesting landscape possibilities that lie there. When I was younger I climbed with many Kiwis and found them to be a likeable lot, very friendly and kind. One was the first woman to climb Everest without oxygen Lydia Bradley . Sorry for the book of my life I digress. thanks for all your comments you have been helpful.
