About You might remember my "last ferry of mankind"

http://www.usefilm.com/image/483882.html

This one is made virtually at the same place, but with a different focus. this time, the blurred ferry is far more prominent. I hope you don't mind that I warm up some old things ;-)

Actual shutter was 4s with 3.5 aperture. If you like I can upload the original image to give you some idea about my rework.

Comments are appreciated a lot - as always.

PS: changed the toning, worked on the grain. cropped heavy.

Beautiful Thilo. Again, a very familiar place for me. This one's got a little more of that contrast I thought was missing from the Chinatown one. ...i left my lens...in san francisco.

Hi Thilo, In retrospect with the previous shot, I do think this is an excellent crop....) I thought you decided against it due to the pattern in the water? I think it does the trick here... In fact, I think all changes to this image are for the better. The slightly warmer tone, the closer crop, the composition with only two pillars instead of three, etc.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean with a different focus. It does seem a bit softer, but that fits quite nicely with the atmosphere, but that can also be the crop you applied. So what exactly did you focus on?

Cheers,

Hugo

Hey Hugo,

I remember your comments on the first ferry picture. =)

While it looks like I followed your idea of cropping the water part, there is another reason for doing so with this second image. This image is actually quite different in terms of lighting in the water. There is no triple layer reflection so I cropped parts of it.

as for the focus: In the first picture, the ferry & its' blur was not so prominent. This time I opt for getting the ferry more into the focus of the viewer. Hope I achieved that ;-) The overall image is indeed softer.

So thanks for your helpful comment, Hugo. Really appreciate that. And great that you remembered your advice. speaks for you ;-)

Take care, Thilo

Hi Pia,

Danke für deine stimmungsvollen Worte.

Lg, Thilo

Well, they are two cracking images. Difficult to choose between them.

Personally, I think I prefer the original, for the foreground and the composition looks more balanced to me.

Ahmet Baki Kocaballi   {K:13627} 8/4/2004

nice timed exposure great job I might have blurred the sky there seems to be some pixelation

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 8/6/2004
Dear Riz,

thanks for your comments. In fact, I already worked heavily on the sky. ;-)

Take care, Thilo
