About I'm struggling with the B/W vs. Color issue in this series. Some of the images feel right in B/W....some in color.

This room had more light than any other.....

Ya know, some curtains and cute soap would really liven this room up.

Dear Bradley,

that's too good to be true ;-)

What a playfield for photographers. Great textures and details, frightening environment.

great series. Not sure about the project. N/A is not the best choice ;-)

Cheers, Thilo

You know I think that this one would work either way. If it had been in b&w it would have more of an eerier feeling I think. But I like the color version-with the hints of blue and yellow. With the window in view-it makes me think of escape. Another great image in this series~

started to comment on these earlier but the site was acting weird again.... These are very moving all three of them again.. I wonder if you have had 2nd thoughts about being in this place and if your mind has allowed you to not revisit it in your own head if that makes sense... heavy photos...powerful..well done..

Debra, I haven't stopped thinking about this place since I was there. It was riveting. Scary at first, sorrowful by the time I left. It was a treasure trove. Thank you for your kind words.

My first thought when I looked at this and boy was it a rip roaring visual, was of a picture I had seen on 'rotten.com'. An old man had boiled himself to death in his own bathtub. The bathroom looked very similar to this picture. Not only the sight of what was left of this lonely old soul but the horrendous condition of the place he was living in was beyond my imagination. Total and utter despair like I have never seen. No one cared, no one. I am sure the bathroom was not like this when the institution was in operation but I wonder how much is from neglect. This is a glimpse into hell.

I always struggle with that issue, the color here is fantastic.

Wow, Brad!

Such a beautifully isolated arrangement of such an ugly place - a horrible past, no doubt? Exquisite lighting, textures, and subtle colors.

What is it about derelict scenes like this that make us unable to look away?

Best regards,
SteveR

I think I like the color better. shows so much more detail. Very good series Brad....

I love this one! It's my favorite!
I like the location!

I think colour in this part of the building is extremely useful. Specially the brown to give the challeng that you pose to our desire to make sense that extra edge. The floor looks that extra bit trickier to navigate with those brown... deposits.

But i didn't come to critique!
This stuff reminds me of the story of the girl on the motorbike who rode through Chernobyl recently.
She took photos too. Here http://www.angelfire.com/extreme4/kiddofspeed/ when you have time you may be interested (you may also have already seen them).

Brad, I wish I could go there just to feel what you felt when you were in this room. Rotted floors, the history this room probably still holds in its moldy smells. At one time, this was someone?s life.
