About Part of the breathtaking interior architecture of Wells Cathedral!! It's called a 'scissor arch' and it was put in to help keep the Cathedral tower from falling over!!

Best regards to all,

Chris

I guessed .75 ;-) Complete with the Spracklen signature tone. I could go on about this and that but Beautiful should cover it.

SPECTACULAR Chris, you did an EXCELLENT job on this one, and what a great composition.
Such a GOOD EYE you have!!

This is a great image. It is very complex. Your title highlights to of the subjects, but I think it's the architecture of the building that really make this image unique. Good one!

Chris Spracklen   {K:32552} 8/11/2004
You're right, Troy!! The architecture is immense and strong and yet so graceful!! If you're ever in Wells, I recommend a visit!
Thanks for your comment.
Kind regards, Chris

Beauty Chris. Love your composition. I think that the only way to improve on this shot would be to get a shaft of light hitting the foreground with a shadow on the b/g.

Merete Westerdahl   {K:11046} 8/11/2004

Fabulous setting, been many years since I was last there Chris. This is a wonderful photo that brinks back the memories (about 30 years ago !)

Antonio Trincone   {K:23167} 8/11/2004
excellent architectural and symmetry in this shot

Richard Thornton   {K:26442} 8/11/2004
It was there, but it took you to recognize this particular picture section. A very nice symmetrical composition and imposing from your selected angle of view.

Den Thompson   {K:30432} 8/11/2004
MAGNIFICENT Chris. The clarity and detail and f11 has kept it sharp edge to edge, top to bottom.
Regards
Den

You have created a breath taking image from this wonderful building by the choice of such strong detail, absolutely gorgeous!!
I would love to have the opportunity to visit some of the beautiful old churches in England, but I doubt I ever will.
Regards Micky.

I suppose it was designed for that "spot light" effect.
Really doing it a great service with how you've cropped it. Exrecising real restraint.

Mark Kresl   {K:9434} 8/14/2004
Chris, wonderful picture and composition. Love everything about it.

Mark

p.s. I recently posted a shot with a pipe organ as well.

Fadel J   {K:13689} 8/14/2004
Great composition, lighting, and colors! Just beautiful!

Roger Williams   {K:83282} 8/14/2004
One of your very finest, Chris. Nice contrast with your cottage series! I even like the frame: simple, subtle, with colours and tones that match the image. I wish you still allowed ratings, because I rarely see anything so richly deserving of straight sevens. By the way, yesterday I got my hands on an RD1, a digital rangefinder camera. It was very impressive! Such a camera would let me take advantage of digital capabilities without changing my shooting style. Out of my budget range, alas!

Chris Spracklen   {K:32552} 8/14/2004
Many thanks for your kind comments, Roger ~ much appreciated as ever!! I hope you can eventually get one of those rangefinder cameras you mentioned, as I'm sure you'd find digital has lots of possibilities for you.
I have just done a quick 'sky replacement tutorial' for you on your falls pic. i hope it works. I've also uploaded a version of your picture with a new sky. Just a very quick job, but it will show you the potential!!
Now it's 12.45p.m. and I must get to bed. It's already Sunday and I have a busy day ahead of me!!
Best regards, Chris
