Two young women from two quite different cultures share the platform at the 42nd St/Port Authority subway station.
It was the end of the workweek, and I was taking a few photos of the modestly-dressed young woman on the right - she was immersed in reading a book and oblivious to me. As I started to leave the platform, "Barbie" came into view at left and created this tableau of two cultures, quite different in how each engages the world, yet coexisting in our society. As an American, I found this workaday display of diversity striking and uplifting.
