First off all, thanks for the comment on my posting. I looked at your portfolio and I?m very impressed. This is classic Chicago really! The bars on the gate look identical to the type they use in jail cells. And the subject looks like he just got out of one, debating if it was better inside without freedom but security or outside with the opposite. I think the b&w is the best presentation for this. I might have played around with the levels in photoshop a little but this looks pretty good as far as the depth of shades etc. technically, it?s a few degrees off level but I think it?s a really cool presentation off level a few degrees, in my opinion at least. The crop looks good but I would have also tried to get closer with additional shots, and really capture this mans face and expression, but then it would be in portraits rather than this category not to mention that people don?t like being photographed close up like that, so that makes it hard if you don?t know them. Overall, I think this is an excellent photo. It really captures a feeling and emotion very graphically. You noticed the scene and captured that moment, good eye! I think it?s art!

Michael, thanks for your commentary. I am in complete agreement with you about the technical side of this photo. It's a little flat as far as contrast and the detail is below what I have come to expect, even from my own Sony Cybershot. I borrowed the camera and it shot only low-res photos to diskette. Not the way to go. I tried playing in PS and was not happy with any of the results. I think being lower-res caused all kinds of problems. So. I went with the semi-original. I converted it to B/W in Photoshop.
