About This is the first shot I took today, about 6 miles from the small town of Punta Gorda. I still had some of my composure at this time...as much as I love photographing boats..I did feel these are luxuries...toys...as I went down the road a bit, and saw people's homes and work places shattered, I chose not to take those photos...it just did not feel right.

I understand how this was easier to photograph and why you did not want to take pictures of peoples homes that had been hit by the storm. Very thoughtful of you Gloria, not all people would feel the same.

Gloria
Several years ago i took a day off of work to go to a small town south of here in wisconsin that was hit by a tornado to try and help with the clean up. I had the same experience, I shot some storm damage, but when i saw people digging through rubble looking for anything they could find, something happened to the focus on my camera, it was all blurred the rest of the day and I never shot anymore photos.
How we take everything for granted, and we shouldn't, its all on loan.

Gloria, I want to let you know that you folk are all in our thoughts this side of the Atlantic. From TV reports your experience was horrendous. A tragedy on a much smaller scale occcurred in UK yesterday. Following a short period of torrential rain a picturesque village, Boscastle, in Cornwall was virtually washed away in a matter of hours. So our sympathies are very much with you.
Hope you personally are fine.
Den

You did the right thing. Let the news take care of the other photos. I'm sitting here in the panhandle of Florida waiting for Ivan to come my way. After Charley came through I had to go to Orlando on business. I stayed with my cousin in Deltona, he didn't have any power and we went to visit one of my friends that lived in Winter Springs and saw all the damage all the tornados did that Charley spawned. I took some photos of the massive trees that was up rooted.......................Opal

Thank you for your nice comment about my photo

Gloria Fusco   {K:7054} 9/12/2004
Thank you Opal...I will be praying for you and the rest of the folks in the panhandle. I am packed and ready to evacuate to my parents, if I am told to do so, but as of now, they think this part of Florida will be bypassed. Hopefully Ivan will come ashore as meek as a lamb....wishing you the best...Gloria
