About Still noisy after trying several times to upload. But I loved the overall effect. The larger version I have here is not as noisy. Maybe the compression does it?

It looks perfectly lovely, elegant and exotic to me Rebecca. The white is so soft and I like how there is the faint outline of the leaves around it.

Looks fine to me on my monitor, but have been wondering about UF compression as Thilo is always telling me my images have a lot of noise (unless it is his monitor?)...anyway, this is just classy,lady..love how each petal looks as if reaching out.."petal ballet"...lighting is lovely and like the leaf peeks..gayle (am late getting on tonight/it is already 11:10pm PST)

My understanding about the noise factor is that you might need to change from a jpeg to bmp (bitmap) compression then reduce the size. once it is reduced save it again as a jpeg and it is ready to upload. for some reason this doesn't create so much noise.

Cheers, tim

Hi Rebecca!

A very lovely b&w of the dahlia. Rebecca, I'm not to sure about this thing of saving as bitmap, resizing and then saving as jpeg. If that's the case, all my uploads must be very noisy. I have my camera set to tiff image mode and the files are 5.5mb size at 1600x1200 pixels. I do any editing before I change the dimensions down to 800x600 to meet UF guidelines. I then 'select save for the web' in my PI and set the size for less than 150kb. Sometimes too many focus or sharpen reiterations will add noisy. And lastly, I don't see a lot of noise in this one. Of couse my eyes may be going.:-))
Jimmy
