The NYFD on W. 3rd Street in Greenwich Village.
When I took the photo, I was attracted by the bright color scheme of the brick and the figurehead over the door.
I didn't notice the plaque on the right until I looked at the image carefully in Photoshop. It is a memorial plaque to one of the station's comrades who died trying to save victims at the World Trade Center on 9-11.
Now when I look at this photo, I see the empty chair as a symbol of their fallen comrade.
