About What thoughts could be inside a boy?s mind, spinning around a lamp post downtown Florianópolis, in front of the main church, in a winter afternoon? But his distant look.. and the red jacket have captured my attention...
But the people in at work don?t see anything...

For my friend Rodrigo Bari, my favorite DJ.And great photographer too.

Thanks for your comments!

Carmem

Nem pense em tirar esta foto. Você capturou o momento exato do pensamento do garoto, e a gente fica daqui imaginando o que ele está refletindo tanto.... As cores estão lindas também.
Parabéns. Um grande abraço.

Hi Carmem,
I like this very much. Yes, his face is so interesting, as is his coloring, rosy cheeks.
HE looks deep in thought...

Love the deep red of his jacket against the other color tones,
Very well captured,
Lori :)

Excellent Carmem... He seems son embedded in his thoughts... It is like viewing two different worlds, clearly separated from each other... Each one going on in its things... Well done... Great story...

Cheers,

Maria

Hi Carmem, I was just about to comment this shot when your comment popped in... I like the candidness of this shot. If was up to me, I'd crop off the traffic sign on the right, as it splits up the attention, and removes it from the boy.

The distant look, and the seemingly dreamy facial expression, almost vacant is a very strong element in this shot. It would create a very strong portraiture, too.

The motion blur in his right leg doesn't quite fit with that seemingly motionless pose, but that's what creates the tension here.

As a street shot, I think including the feet would've created the finishing touch, but I'm tempted to consider this as a portrait, in which case zooming in could've made the impact stronger.

As a whole (considering the current composition) it works too, although i'd still cut off the traffic sign....

In general, the dilemma between type of shot is something I like in a shot, as it provokes me to think about other solutions (needless to say, not necessarily better or even possible)

Again, I want to express my gratitude for your last comment!

Cheers,

Hugo

Hugo.. thanks, again.
As I said before your comments are always expected. I admire your capability in observing small details. And your sincerity too.

About this shot: this boy wat spinning around a lamp post in front of Florianópolis Cathedral (http://www.usefilm.com/image/494139.html). I was lucky in taking his expression in this shot, and that?s the reason there is a blur effect on his leg.
And there are something in the lower part of the photo that I had to crop (I don?t remember.. I?m not at home...later I can see, or send the original). And about the traffic sign, I was in doubt.. there was a litter attached to it that I cropped, too. ... But there?s a semiotic tension here, in portuguese: the sign means don?t park (the same as don?t stop: althought in english language the meaning is absolutely different, in portuguese it?s not).. Marcia Mällstrom had got the idea..

Althought there were so many doubts... I ?m glad you agree: as a street photo, it works. That?s the reason I?ve posted. And to listen to sincer and technical comments too.
Thanks , one more time. I always learn with your comments. And I?m here to learn.

Your friend and admirer,
Carmem

You have captured a very wistful expression on the boy's face Carmem. Brilliant colours and beautiful candid capture.

Cesar Augusto Carvalho   {K:982} 8/27/2004
I only discovered the "working people" after applying a curve on Photoshop to bring up the shadows. Also, the traffic signal on the left is a little bit distracting, making my eye bounce between the kid and the signal, making it much more significant than the dimmed working people. Also, even if the kid is really playing, your image doesn't show it. Maybe my biggest gripe problem is about the title that doesn't fit very well with the image (I believe the title reflects what you saw, but the picture doesn't).

Oi Carmem,

Parabéns once more!

Abraços,

José Azevedo
