About It was about 9:30pm, on the north edge of Lake George, NY. I was driving to Vermont, thru the Adirondak Mountains, and pulled over to catch this. I HATE that I left my UF/Haze filter on my camera, resulting in the out-of-focus moon...but didn't realize it until later. The only way I got this shot (almost) above the trees, was to climb onto a six foot boulder in the dark, WITH my tripod and camera, and set it up in the dark, with cars whizzing past me. This is taken on the edge of a little curvy road, on a ledge, overlooking this awesome lake.

congratulation on putting in so much effort for a shot :)
after all that the UF filter! Too bad.
still works well though. good job.

Another daring shoot Brad!
One of the fun benefits of photography is the chance to clamber about and explore like a kid. Very nice colours, interesting tip about the lunar flare.
Intersting you have created a scene of awesome silence/stillness with traffic whizzing about.

Barry Wakelin   {K:7838} 8/27/2004
Well worth the effort Bradley. Great colours and I like the foreground tree. It is a shame the exposure stretched the moon but it's still nice.

A bold action, you`ve done here...but it was worth it.The moon doesn`t disturb me,the main thing is that shimmering water, and the silhouette of the tree.Wonderful picture!
kind regards,Ursula

...and you think I go to extremes to get 'the shot'? This is absolutely wonderful. The moon has lit a silvery shimmering path across the midnight blue water catching the branches in silhouette. I can't get over the incredible texture of the water. The dark mountain range against the royal blue star and moonlit sky is spectacular. Was worth risking life and limb for Brad.

Mmmmm what a stunning mood! So lovely this deep blue colour, with the light, and the silky touch of the water! Wonderful composition!

Hi Brad,

lovely night shot. very simple color planes but cery effective. the strong silhouettes and the hinted knots are great.

cool shot - I love the color of the water and the branches pushing their way into the center of the frame make the image. K

What an amazing shot. The water is so flat and takes the reflection so well. Love the colour.

Hi Bradley, Ohhh sooo smoooth and comforting! Wow, what blues! Sounds like you really wanted this shot. I know the feeling - my wife has seen me climb fenses and wade through busy traffic and do lots of other moves to get a shot. I'd say your effort was well worth it. Cheers! Sam
