Hello Gertrud,
a good background is the first think you have to prepare for a good picture, it have not to "kill" the subject and you hit this first point. :-)
To this you also add nice tones and a good expression of the model (is it a selfportrait?).

Nice shot, I like the composition and grayscale. At first I think you cropped a bit the model's top head, however taking a look at others pictures it seems to me that is part you own style. Congratulations :)
