About Subject Background: Small interrupt before I start with a new mini-series ;-)
This shot is from 1994, a rather old one. Made on BW film with a Nikon F50 (the same as Vertigoooo http://www.usefilm.com/image/499049.html). Shows New York City, don't know exactly where.

Photoshop concept: changed the toning, removed some grain (I think this image needs at least a bit grain). mild crop to get this tower off-centered.

As always: Honest feedback highly appreciated.

Looks kinda unreal, and I like that!

Your treatment gives the effect of an antique photo from the 20's - good work on the sky and I love the car headlights below.. K

Hi Thilo, As honestly as I can, I thought about commenting on the use of sepia again, but I won't as I think it does serve a purpose here. It's a classic type of shot, and that fits perfeclty with this classic type of tone. The most appealing in this shot is the clouds, seemingly clearing up round the tower. It truely makes this shot, IMO.

As always, I would love to see the original of this one (even though its B&W by nature of the film....;) Well done!

Cheers,

Hugo

Where is batman?

Very classic, and very peaceful! The background is tremendous here. ..Brad

Dear Hugo,

thanks for the elaborate comment. I know that you are kind of cautious about the use of sepia =)
Enclosed you will find the original shot.
take care,
Thilo

Convengo en que parece antigua, y en que me gusta.

hmmm...the top is a pyramid shape and the sunlight seems to radiate out from the top..coincidence? or,pyramid power?..LOL..certainly does have a vintage look and the grain helps achieve that..the tone is perfect for this image..perspective is superb and always makes me wonder from where it was shot when so high up..the dramatic clouds set the mood..well done,my friend!..regards,gayle

vg, uwe

Dear Gayle,

thanks for the inspiring comment. In fact, I really wonder where I took this photo. have no idea ;-) must be on the roof of a building, perhaps a warehouse.
take care,
thilo

Hi Uwe,

Bonito trabajo.
Saludos.

great shot;
the sky is great, but what I like the most are windows with lights; imagine that there were people sitting and working :-)
well done
regards
Lukasz
