Welcome back John!!! I thought of you often, wondering how you were enjoying your trip and whether your stash of film would last! :-))
You are going to have to become a donor so that you can post more than just one image a day! There is so much that I would love to see through your lens. I can't wait to see the rest of your images.
This is absolutely beautiful and you are making me feel very proud of being South African :-) Perfect colours and reflections, excellent focus and composition! Even Robert is chuffed to see his old Navy base in the background! The "village" in the far background (left) is Simonstown and Signal Hill (the navy base) is on top of the mountain.
Please drop me an email when you can and tell me about your trip!:-)
Linn

Hi John,
Welcome home, and I can't wait to see all your photos. You chose an excellent image to get us into your holiday mood. I remember how those clouds used to come rolling in through our bungalow windows and out the door every morning!
Linn didn't get the names straight in her comments, the base on top of the hill in Simonstown is called Signal School and the hill is called Red Hill. You probably heard about Able Seaman Just Nuisance, a Great Dane dog enlisted by the Royal Navy, he was buried there in 1944. (Full story: http://www.simonstown.com/tourism/nuisance/nuisance.htm )

Hi John, what a great image to set the holiday mood. Can't wait to see more! Linn's comment needs a correction: I was at the Signal School which is on top of Red Hill behind Simonstown. Your picture brings back memories of those clouds rolling in the windows of our bungalow and out the door almost every morning! You might have heard of Able Seaman Just Nuisance who was a Great Dane dog enlisted by the Royal Navy during WW2, his grave is at the Signal School.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that I am picking my jaw up off the floor. What a superb image John. I am so jealous. Not the sort of site I would expect to see from Africa but WOW - what super lines leading into the image, great blue sky, and those bright vibrant colors. I am in awe John. Wonderful image.

Thank you Karen. It was a fun trip with excellent opportunities to shoot. This one was a "no brainer" as you've heard me say! :)
