Yeah Paula. You have joined the ranks of true photophiles with a Minolta. The XG-7 is a wonderful camera. Even with the horrible scann (I can relate) you have still made a good image here. The camera can't steal your creativity. It is shining through all this. The leading lines and the soft lighting make this look like an old classic photograph. It even has an element of sensuality.

thank you, John! i'm enjoying the minolta immensely! the only problem i'm having is with my lovely new lense... it's just too big and heavy for me hold still... :) but i'll get used to it.

thanks a lot Luke! my fantastic mother bought the minolta for me for my birthday (cause mothers ARE like that :) ), and it is, as you say, a beautiful machine!

This is a very fine image. Except for the color it has the sense of porcelain to me. Nice camera! If your mother is looking to adopt a child I'm available.

funny you should mention porcelain because the original print has quite a bit of a porcelain-like feel to it. even funnier is the fact that this was just simple dummy on New Oxford Street, and i took the photo because i wanted to quickly finish off the roll and get the film developed...

Dear Paula, read your comment. I agree, that's fine, no problem. I'm so burned out from this last half year that I'm working on a very long trip to Paris/India/Sri Lanka(don't want to end up like Bill Clinton in the hospital).I have to think everything through - regroup. BTW,this is a great picture - i really like it alot, very original. I think film gives it a certain texture.In fact, all 4 of your new ones are really good. No matter what else goes on, I'm sticking to my opinion that you're a very gifted photographer. Not many people have that. take care/keep shooting, Mark

i like tgis one a lot. i love the textures and composition. i assume the noise is from the scan since you're shooting film.

yes, it's from the scan, David. although, i must admit, the orginal print is not exactly brilliant, as i'm still quite awkward with the camera... but some of the photos turned out perfectly, so i was very pleased! :)

Mr. Millam, Wow, that's so strange that you mentioned that. I was once in China and saw a dog bite a little China girl. Kind of a reverse "schizophrenic" take on your comment (does that make any sense? Oh my...)Loved your response to that Barbie comment on your shot. Top of the morning to you Mr. Millam - cheerio! If you can do this with one of Shanghai Tan's dummies I wonder what you would achieve if you took a week long trip to Fujian...

No excuses needed. I love the fact that the viewer, at least I, uncertain wether it is a woman or a doll underneatrh the fabric.Lovely colours and extremely sensual.
