About I read somewhere once that geese honk when they're flying just to let the one in front know that they're still with him!! How cool is that?! Not only that, but if one gets hurt and has to land for a while, another goose will fly down with it till it's well enough to fly again!

Maybe we humans should take a lesson from the geese and learn to encourage each other more, rather than being over critical ~ not to mention caring for one another, rather than sticking the boot in!

Here endeth the lesson!!

Sleep well!

Lovely image, I like the 'about' but it raises a question for me, whenever I have heard them they all seem to be honking, how do they know which is which? It must be very nice to have so many all looking out for you

Beautiful golden capture. Love the "about", had no idea they behaved like that. Good example indeed! :)

Beautiful !!!!!!!!

Chris Spracklen   {K:32552} 9/8/2004
I don't suppose it makes a great deal of difference, Margaret ~ so long as the one in front knows that the others haven't veered off in the opposite direction!! You can only be a leader if people are prepared follow you!
Thanks for your kind comment.
Best regards, Chris

Youhoo....lovely photo and great "About", Chris! i couldn't agree more, my Friend...

sadly once i had to hit "Abuse" here at UseFilm due to some unpleasant personal opinion... and Altaf helped me, which i am thankful for!

i totally understand and agree with You and the metaphor created with the Geese... as to positive and constructive Criticism... but can't understand someone taking his time off his Life to STOP to criticize in a harsh way and not being able to add nothing in return... as if "'Green'?!? ... gee! i only like 'Blue'!" ... INSTEAD of saying "'Green', uhn?!? ...it's a difficult pick due to this time os Year AND it's seldom found due to that scarcity Season... You could try choosing 'Blue' as a Plan B, as i once did here #... and worked out just fine! Check it out and let me know what You think!"
... i can see here's a chance to further more encouragements! *sparkle*

CHRIS, i always enjoy hearing Your Suggestions, as Stephen Bowden's, Orazio Ciak and Hugo de Wolf's... You guys have a way to put things that makes us (((meditate))) and GROW!

Chris, i guess i have this philosophy because we have geese in our backyard... lol
i might have learned from them something in the long run! *wink*

i sent e-mails to You guys asking to pls visit a certain UF newbee and help him/her to feel welcomen and cared as a Family Member...
guess this was learned from the 'wounded Geese' philosophy... it's often nice to always have someone there for them until they get strong enough and fly high with us in a crowd!

Love being here!!!
Thank YOU for making me part of Your Live too,
Regi

There's a lot of truth in that, Chris! Beautiful capture of the birds against the golden sky.

Saeed says: If you can't be the sun, don't be a cloud!! These words are so right..and so cleverly put!
You teach us a lesson..and I feel bad... and wonder..Did I say something wrong??? Naaaaaaaaaa....don't think so, but anyway!!!

Your photo is yellow...but yellow is fine!!! ;-)
LOL..It's wonderfull....and the golden tone just marvellous... What's up the hill...in the background???

Cheers..and have a great day..

Merete

Woah, absolutely wonderful image. The geese are wonderfully well placed and the silhouette's perfect.

I would suggest your Geese need a bit more practice in formation flying Chris, was this taken from your bedroom window?. regards.

Chris,

I think the drivers in Chennai have heard about these geese. They 'honk' at the car in front just to let him know they are there. The trouble is there are 10 million drivers all 'honking' together ;-)

Love the image by the way - would love to know the technical details for this one. Is it ex-camera or photoart? (not that it makes any difference). I really like the simplicity of the colours and composition

K

Chris Spracklen   {K:32552} 9/9/2004
Keith,

The composition was just as I took it ~ apart from the obvious crop down to 10x4 panorama format.

The only other stuff I did was adjust the levels in PS and beef up the saturation a little. The sky was pretty much that colour, just not quite so intense.

Thanks for your comments.

Kind regards, Chris
