This is a very nice story that comes together in your portrait!

Hi Verena, the DOF looks fine to me. If it's too shallow, it's only a wee bit. With such a close up, the DOF should be shallow, IMO. It creates a stronger focus on the profile... Good shot, the addition of the reflection increases the impact. Maybe not spectacular, but a good one.

Cheers,

Hugo

Hi Hugo,

being far away of doing spectacular portraits, but if you don't find anything to criticize, it cannot be a bad one ;))

Hugs,
Verena

ooh, this is clever work. It took some seconds before i spotted that book in the glasses :-), excellent idea and very well presented. Congrats!

Hugo de Wolf   {K:185017} 9/26/2004
It's not a bad one...:) Not at all...:)

Hugo de Wolf   {K:185017} 9/26/2004
Ok, I'll elaborate a bit more. The portrait is definately good, but I always find a perfect profile difficult. Only a slight change can ruin the coherence within the shot, I think. In this case it works very well, but opting for a 2/3 or 1/3 profile is much safer. More room to play with...;o)

Cheers,

Hugo

I like the intense look of the girl (even though she's wearing sunglasses), but you feel herr look. The refelctions is simply great in its perfection. See you!

Gorgeous Verena, the light and the object of your meditaion (the book/yourself).
You're not pushing for more bokeh with that aperture are you? That's not the max max for the 135 is it?
If it is, have ya thought of sticking something old with a huge aperture of it I'm looking forward to chucking an m42 onto a digital s.l.r..

Marcia .   {K:16108} 9/27/2004
Good idea... I liked the reflexion. :)

My best wishes, Márcia.

Ian, unfortunately it is the max, I bought a adapter for my FD lenses, but the first tests were horrible, you need maximum of light to get it working at all

and this was s surprise shot on a very good friend, perhaps the light would work for the adapter, but she wouldn't be relaxed enough after long handling time ;)

Cheers,
Verena

Ian McIntosh   {K:38909} 9/27/2004
Good point about the ability of your subject to sit through a fussy shot. I am discouraged your f.d.s need more light, what's that about, I wonder...
Since I'm mostly fussing I imagine the stopped down metering will be o.k. for my aged 1.4 super takumar adapted to a canon s.l.r. I know it will fit... but a some how weakened metering system sounds like a real drag.

Verena Rentrop   {K:14426} 9/27/2004
Hi Ian,

my FD lenses e.g. 50mm 1.4 is for a Canon AE1, so really old and they fit only through an adapter and my (from ebay) looked very handmade, so the adadpter is the problem, not the lens (works perfect). But with some minutes free time I will do more testings.

Cheers,
Verena

Aah Hah!
Some relief here.
I'd feel such a dweeb to buy with out clearing this one up.

Verena Rentrop   {K:14426} 9/27/2004

luckily it wasn't that expensive and perhaps it is only my incompetence, will keep you updated

Hi Verena,

feine umsetzung =)
LG,
Thilo
