A beautiful scene John. Introducing your son into the joys of would grain as well as fishing I hope.
Call me a frustrated cameraless soul but looking now I wonder if I'd have been tempted to make even more of that big diagonal you found there. Do you think it would have impacted more if the top left was simpler? Still, I guess you thought of that and there's nice context making water edge stuff in the top of the frame.
Course that's techno.

This is an outstanding image.

I think the composition is very strong and the sepia effect adds additional depth to the overall feel.

The lighting is handled very well and I really like the opposing diagonal lines created by the wooden plank and the fishing pole.

Nicely seen and presented.
