About Subject Background: Just a small proof of life after my vacation in Italy ;-) Will try to catch up with work and pictures the next days.

Photoshop concept: Mild cropping. That's it. ;-) The strange geometry on the sign and some other lines here are just real.

As always: Honest feedback highly appreciated.

Very nice shot. Good composition. Excellent colors. I like it. Bye.

Cenk KIRBAS   {K:1739} 10/4/2004
Good composition. I liked the different textures combined alltogether. Alltough everthing looks so bright, there is still something moody and dramatic. I believe that there will be so much to see from your vacation. I hope you had a fruitful and colorful vacation. Keep up the good work. Cheers

jo pez   {K:2958} 10/4/2004
nice to me...:)

Stefan Engström   {K:24473} 10/4/2004
Good placement in the frame. Contrast seems a little high but it is clear there was a lot of sun there :-)

Carlheinz Bayer   {K:14220} 10/4/2004

Mark Drago   {K:10869} 10/4/2004
reminds me a bit of a Vermeer back-alley, maybe if you gave it a tad of saturation? [though maybe I overdo it myself]

Antonio Trincone   {K:23167} 10/4/2004
nice to see you again Thilo, I hope you enjoy Italy and as I see here I believe so :) nice light and colors

Kevin Collier   {K:19076} 10/4/2004
I really like how everything seems flat (telephoto compression?) -- good comp and I wish I was there for a warm day .. K

Hi Thilo, I find it very refreshing to see one of your images without elaborate Photoshop work again. Not that I don't appreciate them nor implying that they aren't good, but I have a tendency to enjoy the natrual, unchanged aspects of life "as is" more easily.

I think this photo is very well composed, and expresses a very tranquil mood. Nice and warm. A very good shot, nothing to nitpick here...;o)

Hope you had a good time in Italy, and welcome back!

Cheers,

Hugo

Maria José Barres   {K:11276} 10/4/2004

Gayle's Eclectic Photos   {K:91033} 10/5/2004
Welcome back,Thilo, missed you!...love the exposed brick on the upper right side...bright sunny street capture of siesta time...there is a look of flatness to the overall scene which suits this image since it is "as is" ;> ..can't wait to see what else you brought back!..regards,gayle

Fadel J   {K:13605} 10/5/2004

Hi Stefan,

about the contrast: something really tricky. I do my PS works at home where the monitor seems to be sucky. When watching the picture at work, I have to agree with you. thx for bringing this in my mind again. will replace my monitor in the next days.
take care,
thilo

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/5/2004
Hi bro,

yeah, back on duty working through hundreds of emails.... ;-)

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/5/2004
Hi Ursula,

LG,
Thilo

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/5/2004
Dear Mark,

I know that you're a saturation addict ;-)
This time I opt for a plain holiday picture as a starter. the weird pictures are coming, though =)
Take care,
thilo

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/5/2004
Dear Antonio,

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/5/2004
Hi Kev,

I used 70mm for the zoom (x 1.5), so yes: The flat look probably comes from the tele. And I enjoyed every small beam of sun ;-)
Take care,
thilo

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/5/2004
Dear Hugo,

that's the just the same to me: I had the strong feeling to upload a picture that shows the refreshing spirit of Bella Italia ;-) So no hard PS this time. But times will change =)

Great to be back, I missed the people and their work a lot. Astonishing how fast my community feelings for UF developed in this short time. But as always: It's good to stay away some time to know what you're missing ;-)

Take care,
Thilo

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/5/2004
Dear Roby,

my stay at Bella Italia was great but just too short. Will definitely go to Italy next year again. Hope to improve my bad Italian ;-)
thx for the critics. Ciao!
Thilo

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/6/2004
Dear Gayle,

I have to admit that my absence was hard to me as well ;-) I'm used to Usefilm (nice slogan =)

thanks for the kind words. the flat look comes from the focal length.
take care,
thilo

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/6/2004

Excellent.

Magnus Beierlein   {K:1490} 10/18/2004
An absolutely fantastic image. The wall that are falling apart is excellent in itself but the sun-seeking "tourist" (I presume) placed slightly off centre and between two doors is impressiv and very, very funny.

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/20/2004
Hi Jeanette,

thanks a lot!
take care,
thilo

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/20/2004
Hi Magnus,

thanks a lot for the in-depth comment. Actually, I don't know if this is a tourist or an inhabitant =)

take care,
thilo

Ivan Jimenez   {K:9098} 10/21/2004
That lady is not a tourist. Tourist are all queuing up in San Marco.... She is a true italian that understands that when you have to sleep you have to sleep.
.-)

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/25/2004
totally agreed =)

Ann Texter   {K:10058} 9/22/2005
that's classic!

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 9/22/2005
Hi Ann,

I really love to get comments on old pictures. that's a trip to the past for me!

Thilo
