About Subject Background: And now for something completely different ;-) Okay, this is Bella Italia (as in my previous postings)... but not beautiful Venice. Lovely shadow model Chrissie stands in front of a car with lights on. Actually, she keeps the door open for me, and I had nothing better to do than to shoot her =)

Photoshop concept: Conversion to BW, changed the toning. Mild cropping. ISO was 800, so a mild noise reduction with neat image was okay for me.

Randy Lorance   {K:24958} 10/8/2004
Cool image...looks like an alien standing there.

Stephen Bowden   {K:64513} 10/8/2004
Excellent photo Thilo, reminds me so much about the film "Close encounters of the 3rd kind" lol

Very surreal composition and excellent PS work.

Best wishes,
Steve

Michael Kanemoto   {K:22103} 10/8/2004
Well, I agree: It's a freakin' alien come down to take our cows away.

Really great use of focus and backlighting from the car for a thin silouette. I think the triangular composition resulting from the hedges has that sort of alien geometry to it.

Good use of light and dark to pull and push the eye right into the figure.

Magnus Beierlein   {K:1641} 10/8/2004
It?s a very scary image...looks like E.T meets the Invasion of The Body Snatchers. I like it very much. It would have been even scarier if you would remove the handbag in PS.

Impressive Work

Magnus

Petri Puurunen   {K:5121} 10/8/2004

What a capture Thilo!! a truly strong one. This image shows the artist inside you that quickly realizes a great capture in an un-intentional moment!

Stefan Engström   {K:24473} 10/9/2004
make the head larger, tone it green and you have yourself an x-file :-) I am not convinced that the large amounts of gray should be in there.

Verena Rentrop   {K:14417} 10/9/2004
da hattest Du wohl eine Erscheinung, eine schöne allerdings

arbeite mich nach und nach durch die letzten Bilder, war einige Zeit offline.

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/9/2004
Dear Stefan,

I have to admit that I checked the brightness (and this causes the amount of grey scales here) several times. IMHO it's totally impossible to bring out the correct picture for every monitor. This is a picture that's made to view on my monitor @ work ;-)

Take care,
thilo

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/9/2004
Dear Daniel,

thanks for the kind comment!

Bradley Prue   {K:30312} 10/9/2004
Thilo, it is amazing how some of the most wonderful work comes about unexpectedly. Sometimes you can take great pains to set something up carefully, and not get your desired results....while other times, you grab your camera, and bang!..it's there! Congrats on a surrealistic, fascinating image! ...Brad

Hugo de Wolf   {K:184670} 10/9/2004
Very cool shot, Thilo! Would do great as a CD cover or a still from a sci-fi film. Very creative, and well captured. I like this one alot; the PS toning is excellent, very fitting to the atmosphere. This is a perfect example of what I like most in photos; it provides the freedom to perceive the atmosphere in whatever way the viewer likes; Eerie, spooky, grim, or even welcoming and pleasant. It keeps the mind sharp. Great shot.

Cheers,

Hugo

Antonio Trincone   {K:23167} 10/9/2004
you must admit Thilo I can not recognize Bella Italia here :)))
I wonder why Chrissie is not in focus there

Pedro Libório   {K:53855} 10/9/2004
quite interesting result ...it have a sense of mistery that really works well, and I do like the tone you have choosen to present her...to me it could be a bit sharper but it is a question of personal taste and I have seen already that you are not a shaper man, at least like I like to do it...
regards.

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/9/2004
Hi Brad,

to be honest, I tried to make more pictures from this setting but the gentle car driver in the back turned out the light just after the first shot which I made in great hurry... Now I'm glad I got this ONE shot ;-)

you're very right about what you said. 100 % ack!

take care,
thilo

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/9/2004
Dear Hugo,

thanks for the kind and constructive words. It started with a snap shot (unfortunately I couldn't do another one as the car driver turned out the lights), went into a "post it or not" and then turned out the be the most "succesful" picture for months ;-)

that's probablye because of the imagination bandwidth.

anyway, thanks for your support. It always lets me think about my reworks. =)
take care,
thilo

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/9/2004
Dear Antonio,

I ran up with the camera as I saw Chrissie lighted by the car in the back. No time for tricky things like focussing in COMPLETE dark =)

after one shot the car went away... so no chance to make a second one.

anyway, I feel pretty comfortable with the result and the feedback up to now.

thx for your comment,
Thilo

Antonio Trincone   {K:23167} 10/9/2004
Ah....sorry I do not realize it was an action shot :)

Tony Diana   {K:13396} 10/9/2004
Estupenda imagen. He estado ausente por motivos de trabajo, pero espero volver ya a visitaros pronto, saludos

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/10/2004
Dear Juan,

about the sharpness: I forgot to mention that this was an action shot. no time to focus in complete darkness as the lighting went away directly after my picture.
take care and thanks for the honest feedback,

Thilo

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/10/2004
Dear Antontio,

as I didn't mention the action setting you cannot know this this fact =)

take care,
thilo

Usually you gain some pounds in Italy, but I think this didn't work for Chrissie. LOL.
Frightning scene. Can imagine a horror movie with that one.
Like it. N I C E !!!
