About Subject Background: Another night shot from Venice, this time in a garage. Apart from the spiral geometry, you might find two "interesting" details (slight hint: a car and two VERY scary looking parts). This is the second part of a mini series I will start with spirals. The first one is posted here
http://www.usefilm.com/image/575175.html

The title refers to one of my personal faves in my portfolio: People in Spirals. (http://www.usefilm.com/image/461056.html)

Photoshop concept: This time I went for a horizontal version in color. Worked with Neat Image on the heavy grain. Slight crop.

As always: Honest feedback highly appreciated.

another good shot.. this one is similar to a shot of friend "alvaro".. of today.. you have a differenrt cut but the "spiral" and the effects of perspective is fantastic..
But if I remember well long ago you had been rewarded with such a photography.

cheers
roby

Antonio Trincone   {K:23167} 10/11/2004
this in color too is outstanding Thilo, I like it; I wonder if a better one could be obtained by stopping the arriving car a bit before, to see some moving effect, better coloured than the simply red you obtained

Ursula Luschnig   {K:21809} 10/11/2004
LG,Ursula

Kevin Collier   {K:19076} 10/11/2004
I like the color version better here - and it looks like a body bag (or a ghost) on the bottom of the spiral. K

Verena Rentrop   {K:14426} 10/11/2004
Hi Thilo,

Verena

This one was really cool my friend! Superb angle and perspective.. Gives a great feeling.. very moody picture! The colors adds alot.. and so does every detail. Superb framing and crop! 7+

I like it more in color :)
even tho the black and white one is more moody but this one is reassuring that the crops or motorcycles wont stand up and hunt u down! lol
the colors r magnificent! vivid and so real great lines totally loving this series
7+++++

Pedro Libório   {K:53855} 10/11/2004
another seven to me...
I could imagine that you have some problem with grin due to the light conditions but you have managed that quite well...the composition and colors are absolutly great so this works fantastic to my eyes!
regards my friend!!!!!

Clifton Jones   {K:10748} 10/11/2004

Carlheinz Bayer   {K:14220} 10/11/2004
Great. I'm struggling between B&W and color. They're both great. Bravo!

Fadel J   {K:13587} 10/12/2004
Very beautifull one Thilo, the yellow curves are very interesting! Looking forward for the rest of the series.

John Griep   {K:2518} 10/12/2004
Hi Thilo,
Looks like a morgue garage;)

But the color one is definitely better.
I think the rearlight of the car adds a lot.

Groet,
John

vg, uwe

This image is incredibly good for several reasons. The colours and the regularity/cropping are excellent. However, it is easy for such an image to look boring if it is too regular. You avoided this not only by including the tail lights of a car and the red stop sign, but by also including those really scary objects at the bottom. Please do not explain what they are.....let me keep my fantasies intact.

Dear Roby,

thanks for the constructive words. You remember well: Peope in spirals is one of my most "succesful" pictures =)

thanks for your support,
thilo

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/13/2004
Dear Antonio,

thanks for the honest feedback. I would love to get a car a bit earlier, but unfortunately it was VERY late and the cars were kind of rare at that time =)

Take care,
thilo

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/13/2004
Hi Ursula,

LG,
Thilo

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/13/2004
Hi Kev,

thanks for the honest feedback. Interesting to see that color versions sometimes are better than the bw/duplex parts... makes me think...

take care,
thilo

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/13/2004
Hi Verena,

Hi Uwe,

thilo

Dear Magnus,

it's an honor to be on your faves. thanks a lot!

I won't argue on the points you mentioned. that's exactly what I like in this picture as well. Interesting to see the different reactions. maybe I will do more mini-series in the future with different variations. very creative feedback up to now.

thx!

take care,
thilo
