This tree branches loose their outer skin by a natural decortication process, as long they become wider. As result, there are four color of branches cortex. The lighter are the newer ones...the darker are the older.

The cientific name is: Myrciaria cauliflora
It is a brazilian edible fruit. You may find brazilian Jaboticaba marmalade at market.
