I am not quite sure, but I think I have also bin in Nagano.
Since I was there last year I became a Japan fan ...
There are so much things that are new to me ... and a very interesting culture.
Good document photography of a part of South (?) Japan.

Frank,
You may recall Nagano was where they had the 98 Winter Olympics. Its North West of Tokyo on the Western side of the island. It is predominantly an agriculrtual prefecture, which is nice because not many tourists go there so you get a really traditional experience.

This is what they were looking at:
(It is a procession starting and ending at the local temple where they carry this really heavy palanquin containing the sacred relics of the shrine around the city to give blessings to the inhabitants) -- happens once a year!
