Breaking and following rules at the same time! great job. The horizon splitting the frame in equal halves, yet the wagon, although centered left to right, follows the rule of third to some degree being in the lower third of the photo. This really works for the scene. I get a feeling of serenity and also nostalgia which if you strictly adhered to the rules, that feeling would be lost. Following rules is good but sometimes it is more important to know when to bend them and break them - excellent job!

Nice exposure and detail as always Bea. Good capture.

Bea Friedli   {K:9816} 10/17/2004
thanks Jeff ! rules ? lol honestly..didn't know they existed till recently. I just took the picture if it looked OK in my viewfinder. So, I don't know what the "rules" are. I'm kind of glad I don't..I like to break the rules in general..lol

Jeff Fiore   {K:12298} 10/17/2004
Bea,
I agree, composition is much more important than "rules". Rules help with composition but as evident in your portfolio, you do have an eye for composition so the hell with the rules.

The Radio Flyer, sure does bring back memories.

You've done it again, you've taken something so simple and turned it into a work of art!!
Gotta put this one in my favs.

This casts me back to my childhood which is always sad to leave behind but It is a delight to know that it can be rediscovered in images such as this.

Thanks
