Karen Ferranti   {K:2953} 10/25/2004
This is my favorite of the three. Beautiful!

Stefan Engström   {K:24473} 10/26/2004
Very nice - I am wondering if more light in the bottom part of the photo would be a good thing.

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 10/26/2004
Thank you all for your kind remarks. Stephan, that issue has tugged at my mind. Thanks for bringing it up. Toni

D. Setiadi   {K:197} 10/27/2004
Reminds me of Anne Geddes..Love this!

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 10/28/2004
D. Setiadi, that's such a fine compliment for me. The father had told me he admired her before I did the shoot, so I tried to do my best for him.

karen clarke   {K:18915} 11/14/2004
This is truly wonderful and precious, so strong is the love of a parent when they first see their child. There is a strong bond between father and baby here, and you did well with your composition. Very wonderful to have a child in one's life, and this truly celebrates that~

Lida Chaulet   {K:3430} 11/21/2004
Wonderful... perfect...
the love, the intensity...
I looked at this for several minutes...

compliments...

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 11/21/2004
Thanks again, Lida!

Mansour  Salek   {K:180} 11/23/2004
that's cool...i really mean it.

Ian McIntosh   {K:42170} 12/8/2004
Speaking as a sterile male I'm touched by this Loving portraiture. We are trying bravely to work out what on earth we can do with our lifespan instead. This is a rare celebration of this kind of love and think the child grown to an adult who can think and choose and reflect for themselves will feel very affirmed by this photoshoot Toni.
Thankyou. I think you could share it with a wider sudience than this. It's amazing how unimaginatively resourced some goups are. I'm thinking of those who are still prevaricating about adoption still.
This is real, and it is an antidote to all the doubt, which I wont grace by naming here.

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 12/8/2004
Thank you for your candid comment, Ian. This is the second child adopted by this family, and as it happens, we adopted both our girls. They are biological siblings who came to us at 2 and 3 years of age. We chose to become foster parents through an agency, and then adopted them. There are many ways to become parents. Here in the L.A. area where I live, adoption is such an open thing and whatever bias there was years ago seems to have disappeared. With 30 million population (more than many countries), there are 10's of thousands of children needing homes. We are surrounded by so many other adopted children, and ours know plenty right at their own school and close to their own age. In fact, many people are clamoring to adopt here and fight long and hard with time and money to do so. It's a beautiful thing to do. Some will say we are good for doing it, but we feel so fortunate. Recently I read this: "Deciding to have children is to choose to have your heart walk around outside your body for the rest of your life." It is true no matter how they come to you. You can see pictures of Sarah and Rachel throughout my portfolio. Sarah is the girl in "Youth" as well. Best wishes for you in your decision. T.

David Hofmann   {K:23763} 1/12/2005
that is a very strong image. Well done. I'm sure the new father really loved it when he saw this photo.

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 1/12/2005
Thanks David. :) The father was very happy. As it happens I created a musical slideshow to a song named "Misty-Eyed Adventure." There were around 65 portraits from a series of 3 sessions. I understand he was rather misty-eyed when he saw it. This family is amazing...they are fantastic subjects and love to get into the shoot. T.

Margaret Sturgess   {K:49403} 2/3/2005
Congrats on being featured critique and this is such a really wonderful image, just looking at it I could have a few tears, it is so tender, loving and ao delightful, I cannot imagine how thrilled the parents must be with this. Just to own a picture like this would be special, but to be the family - well ....
Margaret

Margaret, touching response, thank you dearly.

dc smooth   {K:1550} 2/3/2005
Beautifully done, and very moving. The tenderness between parent and child is the beginning of bonding to each other. I always do shots like this with new parents as the last part of pregnancy series, but never before even considered doing them with newly adoptive parents.
Totally awesome and inspiring!!!

Louise Vessey   {K:13859} 2/3/2005

andree lerat   {K:17140} 3/1/2005
Simply wonderful moment. But also I love the symmetry in the curves of the man and the baby. The are as one. The way his hand curves gently supporting the head of the baby. Perfect circle.

Luke Luther   {K:14687} 3/2/2005
beautiful as it is...includes a dad with child. the proportional difference is remarkable. metaphor for vulnerability and the fragility of family connections. well done image. nice lighting, excellent composition and great skin tones. 7 nad 7 for emotional content from a Child Protection Social Worker.

Tiger Lily     {K:11096} 3/2/2005
The light illuminates baby's face placing the emphasis on the tender moment between father and son. The crop is very nice and teaches me something new. Beautiful image.
