Hi Hugo,
I have been observing your tryptich for a while now and I like that you used the same aperture value and shutter speed. cause the background maintained stability... I like the change in the sense of movement... Bout I thing the flash compensation changed the color IMO to a non suitable yellowish... which bothers me...
Nevertheless... The concept is great and very original... IMO...

I like the graduated blurring between the images here, but I do agree with Maria Luisa that the orange cast is a little much. Moving the sequence along in colorspace is a good idea, but maybe not this direction :-) All IMHO of course. I think all three shots are fun. The helmet ma nin the background adds comedy for me - he and his headgear looks so out of place somehow, and then he too disintegrates in the end!

Hi Maria, Thanks for your comment, as always much appreciated. I'm glad you approve of it, except for the yellow tone. The yellow tone is created by a yellow spotlight, and has nothing to do with the reduced flash intensity. I found it quite difficult to turn off the stage lights without anybody noticing, though....;o)

like the way you played around with the sharpness here, adds a lot of dynamics here. fits IMHO well with the expressions on the singer's face. I can hear the loudness in the final picture =)

The best thing about these images is the background!!!
I really like how u managed to keep the same background in all of the three pics, the sense of motion and minutes passing by is excellent too :)
The yellow hue is not so flattering but since its not a studio guess u didn?t have much choice about the lighting?!
Good image love the upright arrangement :)

Hi Stefan, I had little choice in selecting the orange tone; A yellow spot light was aimed directly at the lead singer. Didn't want to play too much with PS. I think it does create an "unease" in this shot, and that fits very well in line of this triptych (the three individual images) I think. Building up the tension, so to speak....;o)

I thought, I?ll wait tell the 3rd image, as you said so the idea will be cleared, but this image(images) actually has more clear idea than the first one ( to me),what I like is the fixed figures with a flash elements effect changed, which is the results obvious changed, so the comparison is there, regarding the fore and the background.
I?d like to mention one thing regarding colour light temperature, which many can benefit from it, the light source, does create a wrong skin tone, but in the Nikon D100,it is a piece of cake, a pre set between 3000k and 400k (White Balance)( in your case) would?ve adjusted the colour balance of the image.
One more thing (You have to be patient with me dear Hugo), in your answer on the previous image said: Does there always need to be a point?
my answer is: YES otherwise what?s the point to do it!...Having said that I will emphasize that those type of images is for building up knowledge and all gain benefit from them as all the displayed images do,, well done, regards, Saeed

This really gets across the build up of intensity of the singer belting out the song. The movement shown with the shutter speed seems like a result of his voice reverberating the surroundings. The yellow tone does add to the effect, as if it were devoid of any yellow cast, it would lose intensity and appear as more of a snapshot. Waiting for #3

Hi Saeed, thanks for your comment. You pose a few interesting things. I know I need to look into the white balance and the colour tone. I'm not yet up to speed with that.
The yellow tone in this case was created by a very strong yellow / orange spot light, aimed directly at this area. I'm sure I could've corrected this, or even achieved a better result with a different / customised white balance, but I'm not yet up to speed with this. I have a few shots, where a different colour of light was aimed at that spot, resulting in a completely different atmosphere as well as skin tone.
In my mind I remember the tone to be exactly like the middle photo, and I agree the tone looks od. The cool temperature of the full flash in the top one already corrects this, but there's also a whiff of blue light from another spot light, which turned off in the second and third. (if I remember correctly....;o)
If you know of a link with more info concerning the white balance, I'd be very happy if you would send it to me!
As to the second point (yeah, I know, I'm talking way too much, so please be patient with me too!) I have expressed myself rather strict. I do agree that there always needs to be a point. From the stand alone image in the first, that point cannot have become completely clear, although my about text on "the build up" is somewhat of a give away.
I'll explain myself fully in the third photo. The idea behind this triptych is not apparent in each single upload, but something I'm trying to get across in the combination of the trhee uploads. The photographic themes vary too, but are not primarily used for building up knowledge. In all three of the individual compositions, I shot the different images with a pre-fixed idea. (so this was not based on trial and error.... Made a mistake in the first one, though)
What I'm trying to do here, is to create a unity within three different photos by means of (relative simple) photographic tricks; not only within one upload, but within the entire series. I hope I have expressed myself clearly, and that you get the drift.

to continue my comment, as I'm only sitting in a quite normal car, already approx.10 years old Twingo, there is no way for me to get lost in acceleration so often...
but a preferred way is very loud music, want to feel it deep in my stomach, can forget everything around me for a while...
helps you to survive the daily madness...
the performer in this triptych has the luck to have a voice which is worth standing on stage, so he can get totally lost in his own music...

Very interesting idea to do the "Losing it ..." series. This image works the best for me because main difference I see is in the motion of the two people. In the one with the bug, the different backgrounds distracted me a bit from the main subject. The one with "split personalities" was just too different for my taste, but I enjoyed trying to figure out what you were doing.
