Nice capture Trish, the color tones and the water under the girl together with the umbrella together give a wonderful mood to the image, well done, regards.

Matt Pals   {K:1681} 11/2/2004
great shot trish. i love how the red stands out from the two tone shot. the only thing i would recommend would have been to include the entire umbrella in the shot.

Jim Gamble   {K:11968} 11/2/2004
Perfect!!

Trish McCoy   {K:20979} 11/2/2004
thank you anne. :) I did try this version as I did love it too. but something told me to keep the color version.

Armen Jamkotchian   {K:5879} 11/2/2004
Trish, this is a very remarkable image. This is an excellent example of the greatness of the following idea expressed by Antoine de Saint Exupery in the "Little Prince":

"What is most important is invisible"

Yes there is a subtly mystery in this near-grotesque image, but there also is great love of life and tenderness of feelings.

Compositionally I like the amazing balance of symmetry of the street lines and the asymmetry of the crop of the umbrella. Isn't our life like that?

I saw Anne Knes' B&W version of this image. I love both. Each has its own subtlety. With great respect to the version that Anne presented, I feel that the "mild" touch of color injects some additional warmth into the image. Maybe you can borrow the idea of higher contrast from Anne.

It was a great pleasure to see this wonderful image. Thank you.

Regards - Armen

Trish,
I just adore this image! The toning is great too. Perfect poster material, reminds me of my kids doctor office because they have all kinds of this type of artwork of children. Love how you got something other than her face, this is very nice!

Wonderful composition, with the umbrella touching each side, the cracked lines of the pavement creating a pathway for the eye, and wonderful job on the tones. Well done~

Trish - I saw a girl like this 2 years ago and could've kicked myself for not having a camera. I love this shot. Thanks for being ready for it! Cheryl

Cheryl Ogle   {K:24494} 11/5/2004
I love the color one best too. I think you could play with both and see what you get...

Dirck DuFlon   {K:35779} 11/8/2004
Trish, this is a wonderful image! I love the carefree feeling and the sense of the little girl's simple joy - evident even though she can't be seen fully. Beautifully composed, too, with the cracks in the concrete forming a frame-within-a-frame and leading the eye down the path she's following. I love the tones you chose in this, Anne's is an interesting idea, but maybe a bit too stark. Maybe an all sepia version would be nice, too!
PS I just noticed that you recommended my photo for POD - thank you so much! In all sincerity, it's an honor just to be nominated! :)

Trish McCoy   {K:20979} 11/8/2004
