Michael, this is a wonderful shot, with a lithographic quality to it. I am new to Usefilm, travel a lot and grab landscape shots when I can. Find it very instructive to look at your compositions.

Those new pools they have, the negative edge, where it looks like it's overflowing, this is that on a really grand scale. In fact the water doesn't look quite like water, So very peaceful

a very nice shot. simple but beautiful colours. only criticism is at centre left, whatever it is, i would have cropped it off a bit there.

Hi Michael, Apart from the fantastic pastel tones, and the impressive scenery, I do feel a bit ambiguous about this one. First, the small strip of the island on the left, which I find a bit distracting, and secondly (and more important to me, is the division between the three elements; waters, shore and sky.
Not making the choice makes sence too, though. If you'd cropped the image in a panoramic format, you'd loose some of the deeper tones of either the water or the sky...
Per attached, the two versions. I think the water is the more predominant element in this shot, so I'd opt for the first, but I think the composition in the second is stronger...

Agree on both counts, like the first option better. I like this relationship: I post them, you improve them. What could be better?
Actually, I shoot nowadays a bit better because of feedback, this is an older photo where I put the water right across the center...

It's hard to believe this is real. As Gervais says, it's like a lithographic print.
Agree with others, a slight crop of left hand side improves it, but otherwise I like the composition as is. There's something about the dead centre shoreline that enhances the 'as seen in the mind's eye' feel of it.
