I like the way she's framed by shadow and light on either side. She really knows how to play grown-up. But there's that playful side that comes through. It's easy to believe this was from the old days. Very nicely done.

Thanks, Chad for your compliment. I just added the fact that this is a friend to my description, since it's logical to assume without it that she would be mine. Mine are much less cooperative as they have camera shutter burn-out now that they are 8 and 9. Hopefully your daughter won't catch it too. Tip: bribes work.

This is a beautiful portrait. The pose, the texture from the cloth, and your framing is superb. I wonder, to be very picky, if the right edges of the frame are a bit too hot. You might try to darken that part so the whites in the frame dont bleed into any white borders. But that's being prretty nit-picky, like I said. Overall it is gorgeous!

Thanks Daniel. You hit on another beef of my own about this portrait. The light coming in blew out the wall there and hard as I tried, I could not do much as there isn't any info to work with in the image. I would have to paint it in and I didn't have the mind to go there. Thanks. T.

Don't do anything to the right side, I think it is perfect the way it is. The background works perfectly. The left is black with very little definition, the right side is white with again, a hardly visible structure. I think that contrast makes a perfect background. Actually it is almost a cliché to have a black/white (or other hard contrast) background that is devided by the main person.
I also like the light on her face. Great contrast here, too. Might be even more impressive of the light on her face was the opposite of the background light. But then, that might be a little too much after all.
All in all a great photo!

David, how kind of you to take the time to analyze this. I really appreciate it. This was a PS job on my part as far as the background goes. She was standing next to a very bright window. In front was a stark white wall and behind were some maple wood beams. This was a little experiment in dramatic light for me. T.
