The saturated colors work well, Vincent. And you are correct about the duck. Regards, Mister Ken

I love this one!...I wish I could afford the 17-35. I just purchased the 18-35...I was using the 24-120 before for all of my landscapes. I would be interested in seeing your other images captured.

I was thinking so GRAND so Beautiful, then my eyes were looking at the water, and started to laugh..that's awesome. Those cliffs will be there for quite a while, that duck on the other hand..

I think this is composed excellent ! I like the tapering of the mountains and the rocks below almost matching the tapering. And yes the duck adds a little kick :) The colors and reflections are very good. If you don't mind me asking.......on your slide or print is this the true colors or do you have to help them a bit after scanning for the web? I ask this because I shoot only digital and I'm considering buying a 35mm also. Fantastic picture. My complements. Lee

Great shot Vincent, and distinctive, which says a lot for a landscape image from Yosemite! Super color balance and saturation and DOF, of course, and the duck introduces a spin of movement and foreground interest that most shots like this lack. Very well done! 7

Vincent, it's good to see you posting again... how are you? This is a treat on a rainy, blustery day here in Vancouver... the vibrant blues and greens jump from the screen. I noticed the duck right away, which lends to the fact that it's an essential part of the image. I really like how the rock bed under the water can be seen so clearly... probably helped out by a polarising filter. I really need to visit Yosemite.. this in inspiring.

Many thanks for your comments. To answer a few questions: No, I did not use any ND filter on this image. I use those when there are cumulous clouds, snow capped mountains and a few other special situations. I did use a B&W warmtone polarizer, which I find to be excellent for most all of my shooting nowadays. The original slide does have the colors you see here. I would think a good digital camera would have done a fine job provided one uses a polarizer. I stick with Velvia 50 film primarily because of our need to make prints as large as 24x36. Plus I know the original will be around for decades, and have always loved its color and contrast as well as low grain.
My feathered friend was a nice bonus, though only a couple of the full roll with him in there had him in a nice location like this. I just followed him around until I could no longer. I also have a few shot wider than this which I like just a bit more, but have yet to send out for scanning. Yes, this was my first trip to Yosemite. It is an awesome location for any photographer. I will hget back one Spring since there were NO waterfalls at all this time of year. Hope this answers your questions. Many mahalos for taking the time!!
