About Yup, this is my first landscape posted here!

Like I said in my profile, I am trying to broaden my horizens from just taking photos of my children.

I snapped a few landscape/scenery type shots a couple weeks ago when a thick layer of clouds rolled in. This was my favorite of the group.

Any suggestions, criticisms, and/or comments are appreciated as I am trying to learn more! Thanks!

Clean, fresh, fanatastic. if only I had more time to view it.

Hi Melanie...off to a good start. You're eyeing things up nicely - with the sun on a third, as well as the mountains composing 2/3rd, and the sky 1/3rd.

Shooting right into the sun can be very difficult - even w/ multi-coated lenses designed to reduce lens flares. The overall effect of the scene is well captured though. If you get serious about landscapes (it can happen easily) one thing I would reccommend above anything else is a decent quality tripod - makes all the difference in low light/sunrise/sunset scenes.

Hope I've helped somewhat,

Chris

Thanks to everyone who has commented!

Thanks so much, Chris, for taking the time to comment! I found what you said very helpful, I appreciate you taking the time to comment, especially after viewing your portfolio ;o)

Oh, by the way, I just recently got a tripod, but I did not use it on that shot! I have noticed how much more crisp and clear my shots come out when I DO use it. Thanks for the tip!

I really like this one, I hope you don't mind but I set this as a wallpaper for my computer. It's one of those shots you just want to keep looking at, Thanks for posting this one.

Hi, Melanie, thanks for your comment on my recent post, it's good to be back.

Just having another dip into your portfolio, and I like this one. This has a nice abstract quality, don't need to know where it is, it captures perfectly a certain sort of mood, place, weather pheneomenon. What I think of as a 'mind's eye' shot, an idealised landscape, reminiscent of a classical Chinese print.

Is there nothing you can't do? Bravo!

Reminds me of an oriental painting
