About The vase in "Sang-de-Boeuf" or "Ox-blood" colour... produced in China during the Qing dynasty, being thick and vitreous deep red glaze, often featuring crackle or thick drops around the foot, turning red due to its copper content when fired in a reducing atmosphere. Known to have been developed at the Kangxi imperial kilns at Jingdezhen, under the supervision of Lang Tinji during 1705 to 1712.

In Japan, which was quite a closed society at that time, were shown such specimins by the Dutch (VOC) who were solely allowed to trade. The emporor made arrangements to have vases smuggled for his pleasure, as depicted in one scene of the lacquer screen.

Documentary... yes... but only for your curiosity and maybe a Critique... <:-)
