very nice!

I think an higher f-stop would yielded better here. DoF is too short for my taste.

Bellissima, splendida realizzazione.
Ciao

Michele,

Normally I would agree with you on the DOF. But in this case I think the overall effect is pleasing despite the limited DOF. I think it's got more to do with the shape of exposed web and contrast with the background.

But thank you for you comments - much appreciated and if the opportunity arises again I may try to create some version of the image with greater DOF for comparison.

Wow again!

lovely web and drops - they look reallsy beautiful;
what distracts this wonderful view is the right part of the shot with these flowers; maybe some cropping?
regards
Lukasz

This close you can't have everything Neil. I think DOF on the web is OK but a right hand crop emphasises the pearly effective of the droplets. I still like the overall image though.

I'm going to stick my neck out on this one and say I don't think further cropping on this would work. There are several reasons.

1. Having already been considerably cropped further cropping is going to deteriorate the pixel quality of the image. I don't really want to do that.

2. The aspect ratio on this one is important to me. If I crop further on the right I'm going to need to crop the bottom as well and that will risk losing some of the important shape.

3. I fully realise that the old flowers on right are a distraction. But what happens is that your eye is drawn to the one strand of the web that is not a main part of the web structure. When your eye follows this it takes you to the partof the web that is within the DOF - and that's where I want you to be - drawn in like a fly.

:)

I like this very much, Neil. I have to agree with you on the dof and the cropping. I like it the way it is. Nicely done! Larry

Beautiful! A superb composition and perfect exposure - the water drops are exposed brilliantly. I like the creative use of a shallow DOR here - it emphasizes the overall shape of the web.
