Melanie, Thanks for posting/pointing out these other two. I like this too - maybe a little busy but that's the nature of the shot. So what's a burn layer in PS - i've just looked and can't find such effect?
Nice saturated colours without overdoing it.
Fresh subject too - I like it!

Matt, I don't use PS I use Paint Shop Pro, so I'm not really sure how similar they are.

To get a burn layer or hard light layer you duplicate your background layer and then there are "blend layers" you can choose from on that duplicated layer such as burn, dodge, hard light, soft light, etc. This is all in the layer palette. Once again, I have never used PS, so I'm not sure how similar they two programs are.
