I got the feeling of essense...vasen..such a nice word...I will remember it, I collect words I like...
the image reminds me of an old forgotten era where romanticism prevailed and people were pure, as pure as nature..congratulations on the image,toning and artwork, a good choice for best picture of 2004...i hope the new year brings even more inspired images...

Frantastiskt fin. Är detta fortfarande mörkrum eller har du fallit föga för digital bildbehandling? Väsen är verkligen en bra titel. Också en bra titel för musikgruppen med samma namn - de har förstås användning för den utterligare meningen av ordet. God jul & ett gott nytt år!

I have to suppose that VÄSEN would translate to ESSENCE... which liberally would refer to the very essence of being... with it essentailly comprising of the the intrinsic or indispensable properties that serve to characterize or identify something. One may also say... something that exists, especially a spiritual or incorporeal entity.
One need to stand back... and then one starts to fully appreciate the creation... of "VÄSEN"

Ok? emmm? I have just login and I am totally speechless? I can?t really believe what I am looking at? to be exact ?staring? at? THIS is one of the most awesome pictures I?ve seen so far? not only because of its technical excellence (I tried sandwiching two negatives but a single exposure for the first time last week but this result IS something else?) but also for the immense feelings this image shows and strike right through my heart? a mystic image? Male? eerie haunting Female? everything embraced by Nature? this is a poem? archetypal energies wrapped up in a single image? forming a most harmonious Union? V ä s e n... a beautiful word? I touch my pc screen and I can only imagine how it will look on paper? this is MY best picture for 2004 without question (and a fav of course)? the only image I?ll comment on today because I don?t want to see anything else? the least I can do to show my utmost admiration!!! Wow, this is amazing. That out of focus portrait in the background is the finishing touch for me. You don't quite notice it at first because of the sharper image on the right, but becomes apparent on further examination. Brilliant work.

The result is a very creative picture.
There is a lot of " Shaeraneh " inside as already Kamran said ( this Farsi word means : poetic feeling ) but like "Väsen" one can not translate it exactly :)
