About My first attempts at making blurry images. I wasn't aware of it at the time, but I like the effect created by some parts of the image standing still, while others are moving. Any hints on how to improve this image are welcome.

Shutter speed was actually 1/2s and f6.3.

Nice picture. I wonder about the biker?!? Is he not driving or what? ;) Good coulours and light. Maby it would work better if the lines are in the midle of the street and parallel to the picture... Just a idea. What do you mean?

Regards, Sven

This is really nice, I like the mixture of the action and still, It defenitly gives a feel for the true activity of the city. Alison

Great shot. I actually live in Hangzhou half of each year. I love that city!

James, This is great work. I love the stillness on one side and action on the other. Wonderful color and clarity. I'm just learning my Finepix S5000. Any helpful hints would be appreciated. Marilyn

marilyn.... i'm using the S7000 now since it has a few functions and options that the S5000 didn't, but i still enjoyed thS5000 while i used it.

i suppose the best advice i can give you is read the manual, find out what the camera can do, and then go out and try take photos in different settings. that's what im doing right now. trying photos with blurry composition, night shots, some long exposure, a little bit of this and that. of course, with digital, there's no wasted film so experimenting is indeed a pleasure.

also, if you haven't already, upload your photos to the help project for good critical advice.

incidentally i've looked at your photos. i'll hopefully post some useful critiques for you in the coming days.

take care ~ james
