Nicely toned and again, good composition. I like the mood in the image, works well Melanie :) Like it.

Melanie Reynolds   {K:9090} 12/27/2004
Thank you, Howie! I am rummaging... lol... with the holidays I haven't taken many new photos. I have a few I took with my mom's Sony, but they are all on her computer.

Peter De Rycke   {K:41029} 12/27/2004
Wow, great work, i like it .. the mist is extra to the whole atmosphere .. the toning is just right .. apart from the banded halo effect to the right, i see no improvements .. Peter

Melanie Reynolds   {K:9090} 12/27/2004
Thank you, Peter! I see what you are talking about with the banded halo effect, and the funny thing is that it did not look like that before I uploaded it! Hmmmm?

Mark Sherman   {K:15637} 12/27/2004
a wishing well long since wished. when I first looked at it was kind of scary but the more you look the more it provkes sadness.

Peter De Rycke   {K:41029} 12/27/2004
Yeah Melanie, this is caused by the slight compression done when the picture is uploaded. That's why you have to take care with images treated like this .. yesterday i did 5 uploads of my "Moon and pier" shot, because i got a strange halo around the moon, only the 5th time i found the right size of picture to upload, and avoid the effect ..
Peter

Melanie Reynolds   {K:9090} 12/27/2004
Peter, is there a way to REupload if it comes out differently after the upload? I thought once it was uploaded that was it, you were stuck with it until the next 24 hours.

Peter De Rycke   {K:41029} 12/27/2004
No Melanie, or you have to delete the present upload, or just wait .. sometimes only solution is to look at it well before clicking OK .. sometimes happens to me too..
Take care!
Peter

The Tehachapis is one of the jewels of California; not well known. I once had a pass for Tejon Ranch and took advantage of the opportunities. Hopefully, some of it will be preserved instead of falling into the hands of developers. But this photograph is just a gem. It captures something about that seemingly magical place.

Melanie Reynolds   {K:9090} 12/27/2004
So you've heard of Tehachapi, Mark? WOW! That's surprising!! It really is a beautiful little town, especially when it snows!

This is actually part of my parent's property. When they bought their house it had this little shed on the property with the old wishing well that needed some fixing up. A cousin of mine thought it would be fun to throw rocks at the windows one day and broke them to pieces. Gives it a very eerie look though ;o)

I attached a photo of my paren'ts house... not sure if you can make it out since it's so small. They got a great location!

Melanie, this is a beautiful and truly haunting shot...I love it! I am getting ready to explore photoshop more and will probably have some questions for you once i get further into it. I really like a lot of the things that you have done with it. Nice job!

Thank you!

Marie, I actually use Paint Shop Pro, not Photo Shop. From what I understand they are fairly similar, so I will do my best to help where I can ;o)

Very nice composition. The tones are warm and I personally like the halo as it adds to the overall feeling for me.
