I was sure it must be Rome!

I love the lunar atmosphere and the composition is simply perfect.

Howie Mudge   {K:23894} 12/29/2004
Wow such a great perspective here and love the angle and composition. I want to sit where he is sitting :)

Robert Stokes   {K:4529} 12/29/2004
There he sits with his paper, bundled in a coat to insulate from the elements, warmed from both the sun and solitude....content. You have made an image with an interesting story. Very nice.

Fabrice Gourbilleau   {K:53288} 12/29/2004
Thank you for your nice comment Katia.
How was you sure? ;)
Regards
Fabrice

very good :)

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30021} 12/30/2004
Amazing!!!! I love this. Very unique capture. Could also go in "Alone" project. Now I'm not retaliating about the verticals when I point out the wall on the right..:) Whatever...it's in my favorites now. We have a very special friendship. :) T.

Michele Berti   {K:14921} 12/30/2004
what a mood here Fabrice! The BW conversion is nicely done and my only suggestion here is to crop the left side in order to cut away that building which is only a bit visible. Take care and a great 2005!

P.S.
I have reposted my latest shot "In the depth of the forest" u commented yestarday 'cause on the first upload I picked the wrong file.

Judi Liosatos   {K:34029} 12/30/2004
What a wonderful place to get away and read your newspaper without distraction. Excellent shot. And thankyou also my friend for your wonderful comment on my image.

Judi

Fabrice Gourbilleau   {K:53288} 12/30/2004
Thank you so much Toni... YOu're right, I hesitate on the choice of the project, but in this case, this is his choice..Anout the verticalness, this is the curve of the brige.. so this has not to be vertical ;). This is very good remark my fried, and in MHO (hehehe), the only way to learn and improve our technic. The advice that you gave always help me in this way.
Take care my friend

Fabrice Gourbilleau   {K:53288} 12/30/2004
Thank you for your advice Michele. I have tried what you suggest before posting this one, just to see, and the result didn't convince me..something was missing and it was then difficult to understand where the man was. This is why I let the small curve of the bridge.. Good eye Michele.
I will see your upload version my friend
Take car and best wishes too for this new year too

Fabrice Gourbilleau   {K:53288} 12/30/2004

A bientot

Alastair Bell   {K:29571} 12/30/2004
I love the contrast of tranquillity and turbulence in this image. As always your image is perfectly composed and exposed. The shadows also work well in this image accentuating the cold by showing the low angle of the sun. Another excellent image!

Fabrice Gourbilleau   {K:53288} 12/30/2004
I'm flattered by your comment Alastair.. Thank you for sharing.
Take care Alastair

Verena Rentrop   {K:14426} 12/30/2004
sometimes you want to be alone, on your own...enjoying the moment...the sun...the water movement...

great moment captured...

Cheers,
Verena

dave thursfield   {K:514} 12/30/2004

Very emotional picture.
So special, original and beautiful capture!
Regards

Rebecca Raybon   {K:26655} 12/30/2004
I've looked at this about 10 times. It's interesting, with the wall included on the right. But yet, without the wall..the eye is immediately taken to the lone figure sitting by the water. I love it, either way. Awesome image!

Fabrice Gourbilleau   {K:53288} 12/31/2004
Thank you Rebecca for your nice comment. The regret that I have when I crop the part of the wall, is the crop also of the shadow of the reader, and it harms the composition in MHO. That's why I prefered to keep this part of the bridge.
Have nice days, and beautiful last night for this ending year..
Take care Rebecca and See you next year ;)

Khaled Mursi Hammoud   {K:52315} 12/31/2004
I like the way he's sitting in the sun and wearing his coat reading the newspaper.
The tones and lighting are super.
Good work Fabrice, regards,
Khaled.

Femke de Wit   {K:5172} 12/31/2004
This one is also nice perhaps a little crop at the left, but I think you want to show the whole
wave. Now we know how insignificant people are with this kind of power of the water. Kind regards Femke

Aira Manna   {K:11201} 1/2/2005
super image: static vs dynamic, quiet vs withering, thoughtful vs sudden.
love it!!!

Premonition

I am like a flag surrounded by vast, open space.
I sense the coming winds and must live through them,
while all other things among themselves do not yet move:
The doors close quietly, and in the chimneys is silence;
The windows do not yet tremble, and the dust is still heavy and dark.

I already know the storms, and I'm as restless as the sea.
I roll out in waves and fall back upon myself,
and throw myself off into the air and am completely alone
in the immense storm.

Rainer Maria Rilke 1875-1926

Fabrice Gourbilleau   {K:53288} 1/6/2005

James Hager   {K:6285} 1/7/2005
Great composition with the man in the lower left and the waves extending to the upper left. Nice work!

NN     {K:26787} 1/8/2005
Well spotted, Fabrice! You?ve captured a moment of pleasure ... this man reading the newspaper, enjoying the sun and the waves ... with no disturbing elements :)

Kristina Kohut   {K:49990} 1/8/2005
What a wonderful photo! So nice and peaceful, relaxing feeling! The waves are beautiful, and the whole composition is great!

Ian McIntosh   {K:38714} 1/11/2005
Hope he aint feeling too solitary.
I do not find the river relaxing at all but terrifying. He goes in there he is dead is what i think. Wondered about this as a duotone and tried it but it lost the contrast between the bone dry stone and the river. Awesome light that person has, and perhaps only shining through that windoe for half an hour at that time of the evening.
Superb.

Ian McIntosh   {K:38714} 1/11/2005
Was afraid you were talking about jumping into the river again Mary! :)

yury z   {K:332} 1/15/2005

Roberto Arcari Farinetti   {K:177201} 1/20/2005

cheers
roby

T L   {K:18928} 7/30/2005
