About When I was a child I loved to walk in the woods. I believed that the trees could see me. They knew I loved them, and I knew they would use their powers to protect me. (It still feels that way.) Antonia

This is dedicated to Augusten Burroughs, author of "Magical Thinking," one of the best books I have ever read.

That red just pops it's beautiful. Great composition.

Amna Al Shamsi   {K:21796} 1/8/2005
Another beautiful capture Toni, I like the shapes of the tress and the background. I gave my self the permission to work a bit in your photo, I converted the background to B&W and kept you little lady in red. also brighten her face a bit. hope you will like it

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 1/8/2005
Wow, that looks fantastic! You did that rather fast. I just left to work on another to post, came back and you'd modified this one. Thanks for the rendition. I just did that effect on another one of her in the park, but didn't keep it since I didn't like how it came out, and then didn't bother to check it out on this one. But as it turns out, the effect works much better on this one. T.

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 1/8/2005
Amna, I forgot to mention that I think you really improved the light on her face. I had lightened it a little, but was timid about taking it too far. T.

Aira Manna   {K:11181} 1/8/2005
this is an image from a fairy tale...so lovely!

Fabrice Gourbilleau   {K:58253} 1/8/2005
The trees are absolutely fantastic TOni... This center seems to be really beautiful. The point of view choosen, with the light is superb.. and the small subject too.
Well done Toni
Fabrice

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 1/8/2005
Amna, my husband just saw this for the first time, and when I showed him your version he flipped...he LOVES it. I am going to redo it that way and give it to him as a gift to hang in his office as a surprise. Thank you so much for doing this for us. :) T.

Lori Stitt   {K:74568} 1/8/2005
I really like this one a lot also Toni.
Love her outfit!
I bet this would look good in sepia and then bring back the red to original.

Very nice work, impressive,
Lori :)

Rebecca Raybon   {K:26645} 1/8/2005
Superb image! I think that a little desaturation would work well too. The red would still be obvious, even then.

Amna Al Shamsi   {K:21796} 1/9/2005
That makes me happy too Toni ;-) it is your idea and your photo which is great

regards,
amna

Fadel J   {K:13747} 1/9/2005

Thanks Kel! I'm tickled that you enjoy these. So much fun to do. T.

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 1/9/2005
Thanks Elena, I'm happy to hear your comments. I'm going to fix the face. T.

Hugo de Wolf   {K:185017} 1/9/2005
Hi Toni, wonderful dreamland. The girl in red adds a unique touch to this image, and takes the (probably already) beautiful forest view into a different dimension. The way she peeks into the camera from behind the tree is "magic". Both literally as well as metaphorically. Very professional image!

Cheers,

Hugo

Ana Martins   {K:5643} 1/9/2005

Abel Minnée   {K:3769} 1/10/2005
Wonderful wonderfull!

I love your style!

Shoot Mike   {K:3265} 1/10/2005
Toni,

This one is wonderful also! I like it better than the last. Your model is not as centered in the picture. She is framed by the trees. The tree also add some nice angles in you picture. I don't mind your models face being a tad dark, it adds to the whole picture, along with the way she is peeking around the tree.

I have to add this one to my favorites too.

Mike

cessy karina   {K:14205} 1/10/2005
she is princess indeed

moataz k. elkateb   {K:4971} 1/10/2005

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 1/10/2005
Thank you sooo much Mike. (and for putting it in favorites...hugs). T.

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 1/10/2005
Thanks Rebecca. Does it appear over-saturated? I did not increase saturation on it. It may be difference in our systems this time as well, as it is very dense and could easily go over the top. T.

Rebecca Raybon   {K:26645} 1/10/2005
Oh noooo Toni! It's not over anything! IT's beautiful. But often with trees like this desaturating gives them a wicked tone! lol

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 1/11/2005
Ahhhh...o.k. Rebecca, I see. Did you happen to see Amna's version he posted? He desaturated only the trees completely. I think it looks really great. Thanks for the suggestion. T.

Ian McIntosh   {K:42170} 1/12/2005
It's a great scene. Nice colourwell balanced. She looks beautiful in red. A colour that probably she prefers to the grey!

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 1/13/2005
Definitely she prefers the red. My girls are just beginning to appreciate the greys. :) T.

Stephen Bowden   {K:64540} 1/13/2005
Absolutely fabulous Toni - so different from the B&W version but equally as appealing. I love the way your "princess" is just peeping out from behind the massive tree.

Fabulous work :-)

Best wishes,
Steve

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 1/13/2005
Thanks...Rachel is hoping for a hit like Sarah's Youth...I'm workin' on it..lol. T.

alberto baez duarte   {K:8127} 1/16/2005
What a wonderful picture...everything looks so good, the color, the ranches of the trees, color of the little princess...exceptional...!!

Nicole Marcisz   {K:10196} 1/19/2005
Did you try Black and white but just the girl in red? That would be cool,
nice work,

cheers,
nicole

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 1/20/2005
Thanks, Nicole. Yes I did my own rendition after Amna's comment. I promised Rebecca Raybon to post it and haven't done it yet. I will right now. T.

Hugo de Wolf   {K:185017} 1/20/2005
Now I'm really confused. After my last feeble attempt to promote my preference for this shot, I'm really in doubt if I:
1. managed to expressed myself clearly
2. agree with myself
Bottom line, this one keeps me thinking, and that's always a very good thing...:)

Cheers,

Hugo

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 1/20/2005
:) Hugo, you have endeared yourself to me once again. I love this version for all the reasons you prefer it. But, and I quote myself, "just like children, there is room in my heart for both versions." Years ago I used to paint, though I rarely do that now because of the photography. One day I took 5 different paintings to the office and left them at reception (people had been asking to see so I left them there). Throughout the day, people stopped by to tell me, with conviction, which one was the best, saying this or that one was nice but SUCH and such was THE BEST. By the end of the day, 3 out of the 5 had been declared THE BEST. I trust your judgement and your critiques are fabulous...and mean a lot to me. Thank you for them and I'm all ears...believe me. T.

Ivan Jimenez   {K:9098} 2/6/2005
A dream with vivid colours.
Watch out for the wolf!

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 2/6/2005

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 2/6/2005
oops, almost forgot...thank you Ivan!

Mats Johnsson   {K:1875} 2/15/2005
Super nice - realy like this one - strong colours and good composed picture

Samantha P   {K:2781} 2/17/2005
Toni; BEAUTIFUL. Your portfolio is SOO impressive..wow! You have a real vision and your able to create beautiful, artistic work!

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 2/17/2005
That is very nice of you, Samantha. I'm glad you enjoy my work. :) Antonia

Lara dos Santos   {K:1578} 3/12/2005
I also really like this one, although the colours and the light make the wood seem happy and peacefull, a place where nothing can happen to you. On the picture where the trees and the rest are B&W it's like she's hiding from something dangerous, it gives it a more magical atmosphere.

Antonia BauerleinSehnert   {K:30194} 3/12/2005
It is interesting how the different versions take on a different mood. I agree with you. By the way, this is my daughter, Rachel, and it was a cold day. She was so sweet to pose for me -- she thought the whole thing was silly...:) Antonia
