About Can someone look at a child and feel nothing?

So many children died in the Tsunami Disaster. Generousity now is great, but please keep them in your thoughts. Rebuilding will take so much time and money.

Took this with a friends 1.4 instead of my 1.8.

Good message Heath!

The DOF and detail are awesome! Such a serious expression |

Melanie Reynolds   {K:9583} 1/9/2005
Oh, and I forgot to add that I like the crop ;o)

Heath Bennett   {K:4429} 1/9/2005
Thanks Melanie, the expression is very serious isn't it...

You are so right. And people generally only see half the story. Just like your image portrays. Well done my friend.

Very perceptive Judi - I would like to say that I had thought of that, but I hadn't!

Excellent!

Love the crop, and the dof. I think the thing i like best is detail on his face, the fine hairs of his eyebrows and the smears on his cheeks. The heavy black frame really puts mood in the image, an appropriate mood in this case. Beautiful work Heath.

great shot heath! Everything about this is excellent... the crop, the DoF and the message that goes with it. Well done.

Hugo de Wolf   {K:184670} 1/9/2005
Hi Heath, the very shallow DOF and the composition work well for me; it creates an unexpected element considering this basically is child portraiture. It gives the photo a rather ageing and mature look. Very creative, excellent shot.

Cheers,

hugo

Hi Heath, My wife is from Indonesia and has heard many stories of rescue workers arriving in a new place on Samatra to be greeted by overwhelming crowds... The workers ask where are the children (as there are none to be seen)... They were all taken in the Tsunami. Hard to feel nothing. Nice shot and story. In thought... Sam

Bravo. Excellent. The depth of field, the crop and the composition is beautiful. I am amazed by the look in the boys eyes. Congrats.

Best regards my friend

Hi Samuel - perhaps I'll change my tune a little. Obviously the world at large has shown their compassion through giving money, but how long will the support last? I hope the support doesn't loose too much pace once the media coverage depletes.

This kid is making a regular appearance on your site, maybe you should start paying him! Now that ive got ADSL i'll be using UF more again. I missed it quite a bit.
