About Another from White Sands Nat. Monument. A recent rain had erased the smooth sand and made it very rough.

Super smooth sky & grainy sand. Beautiful contrast. I like the choice of B&W. A real well balanced image Don.

Incredible detail in this, Don. I like your choice of B&W as well as the simple framing.

beautiful lines and textures. I like it in black and white.

Leslie Cohelan   {K:20887} 1/9/2005
recentley I have seen a lot of dunes pictures and usually there is no sky in them...but that is exactly what I like about this one...the black and white conversion is excellent showing good tones and excellent contrast...the composition is beautiful taken from a good angle and your exposure is such that you managed to keep some detail in the foreground shadows...BTW...the light is beautiful!

Larry Quigley   {K:12884} 1/9/2005
Wow! This is right out of Lawrence of Arabia! The choice of B & W was "right"! Great picture! Larry

don, thanks for the "about". before i read it my first thought was "too sharp, don, too sharp!" ;^) nice composition and detail. i love the layers on the dune. held in place by the recent rain, i assume. i also like the look of foot prints. they look solidified or embedded permamnently in the dune. shame that they lead me off the frame instead of into it. not sure how you could've done that and maintained your composition, tho. great shot!

take care,
tom

Nice one Don. The dune is arresting enough, but what I like most with this photo is the striking play of light on the wondefully tormented clouds in the background: expressive smudges and streaks worthy of an oil painting.

Regards

Gervais

Wonderful capture of the texture and details in the sand, Don! You've got a great sky in the background, as well.
Dave.

Good looking dunes. I like the inclusion of the sky in the picture. Very interesting perspective. Nice one!!

Christian Barrette   {K:21125} 1/11/2005
Great B&W with a superb natural setting. Beatiful sky and lovely curves. I like the punch the extra sharpness brings to the sand texture.
Great work with the dynamic range, really close though to burning some highlights.

Den Thompson   {K:30432} 1/11/2005
B/W sure makes this shot Don. Such detail too.
Den
