About Subject background: Roosevelt Island, Manhattan in the back, trails of a radioactive ghost who is kept behind a fence. Chrissie behind the cam.

my next weird usage of IR filtering (using a Hoya R72). would be great to have green grass and sunlight to make some normal ones as well ;-) (but getting used to the weird stuff, I probably stick to that)

PS concept: Channel mixing (R => B), adjustment layer stuff.

As always: Honest feedback highly appreciated

Actual data: 1/4 s shutter, 3.8 aperture, ISO 800, handheld, blind shot (filter takes away complete lighting and just lets IR through)

Great shot = I see escape from the asylum .. great effect - I have been playing around with an IR effect plug-in that seem to work well (you can add grain and tone) - If you want I could send you the web adress - it's a freeware plugin - K -- Looked below I prefer the desat-color...K

Interesting quality to this one. I like the thin tonal range. It looks like a film transfer. Nice work!

Excellent Thilo... Love the composition... Love this series of IR images. I like very much the tones you have managed to get... It makes you feel as if going to another reality...

I saw also the one you upload in B&W... It is great too... but in my honest opinion, lacks the dramatism this one has... So I stay with this choice...

Cheers,

MaLuisa

Fabulous work Thilo, I knew this was yours from the thumbnail :-)

This is the effect I try to strive towards but I think I have IR blocking filtration within the processing of the Olympus C8080.

For once I actually understand the steps you have taken (thanks for the guidance) - so I guess I am learning .... finally :-)

Best wishes,
Steve

Hi Thilo, In all fairness, this is the type of shot I have to get used to, but I do find the atmosphere created by the IR filter and the composition very captivating. The obvious reaction is the repulsive tendency towards the barb wired fence. But there's more to it; the real atmosphere I perceive is much less grim; the light as well as the brightness in the sky probably reveal the true nature of the day. Still, my eye longs for an escape to the city....;)

Cheers,

Hugo

Fantastic work Thilo, the lightings/shadows and the colors are super! I prefer the color one more, it has a better mood in my opinion.

Uwe Bachmann   {K:10222} 1/12/2005

vg, uwe
