About I used very low lighting (a lamp) with no tripod. I did some softening in PSP to even out the skin tone.

I did my best with what little resources I had!

(The spots on the inner corners of the eye are RHINESTONES!!)

This is my favorite of the three. Very nice portrait work and Gabbi looks great! You achieved the throw back starlet look. I like the lighting. Where did you place the lamp and did you use a fill flash or just the lamp? Great work!

Starlet 3 does it for me. This one doesn't transcend like that one. Nice work/series.

Dear Melanie,

I did like this starlet shot.. So soft and so nice shot.. Colors ans light on the skin is very good and I also liked the way your capturing her glance at the right time.
Congratulations my friend and best wishes,
CAgatay

Tiff, I didn't use a flash at all. I used a tall lamp that stood just over hear head.

Thanks for the comment!! We did this late last night.

I really like the lighting, expression and composition. Nice work!!!
Two "nit-pick" things...next time have her wear fake fingernails...the short nails don't go with the glamour pose! and...easy to fix..there is a very tiny bright spot at the corner of her left eye...airbrush or clone it out.
Don't be offended...(I only feel inclined to nit pick if I think it's already a super good photo!)

Lea, no, I'm not offended, I appreciate it. She actually wanted to do fingernails, but we got a late start with the hair and makeup since she had to do homework ( I will definitely keep it in mind for next time, though ;o)

Also, the bright spot you are referring to, is that on the inner corner? If so those are little rhinestones I added to her makeup, only they didn't photograph as nicely as I'd hoped.

Thanks for commenting!

Very retro, Melanie. I like it!

I've liked all three of these captures. Once again good composition, light works well and nice serious expression.

Hi Melanie - just come across this series of photos - they are superb and have real drama to them - something of a byegone cinematic era which I presume was your intention! - well done - Regards Jeff
