very sweet moment. I'm not sure yet if I like the softening effect :) It is definitely a joy to watch. The expression is wonderful.

Ellen Smith   {K:14418} 1/12/2005
Magnificent!

Cenk KIRBAS   {K:1739} 1/12/2005
a good and touching moment. I like blurry approach. It gives the feeling of a dream and sweetness.

Margaret,

Really Beautiful!!

Full of emotion!

Did you use a gausion blur?

Tanya

Margaret Dean   {K:440} 1/12/2005
Yes Tanya - 1 gaussian blur layer plus a second gaussian blur layer in conjunction with a multiply blend mode. And I use layer masks to isolate the effects to where I want it. Thanks for commenting!

This one is special. I like dark tones, but I wish there was just a touch more light on the face of the girl.

Ciana Worme   {K:6805} 1/13/2005

This photo says so much. The monotone helps create a beautiful mood of friendship and isolation. I love the skin tones and the pose and composition. Really a first class shot. I also have the same camera and use this film alot too (now with 10D it has a few cobwebs).I like the soft blur too, obviously a photoshop expert too. Well done.

The love between a child and a pet is a timeless motive in art. Countless canvasses and photographers have been produced but your capture captures this unique vibe beautifully, without exploiting the implicit sentimentality in such a picture. I really appreciate the shot ? never mind the obvious beauty of both the child and the puppy, but the atmosphere of the moment, the protective tenderness of the child, the glace downwards? it all works Margaret.
Excellent work and very nice to visit.

Thank you for the comment Carlos - as you might have guessed I have an emotional attachment to this image. Often my attachment blurs my judgement, and I tend to read too much into an image. Thank you for appreciating it as I do. I had hoped that this was an image with universal appeal, not just one in which a mother revels.
